The bio-scanner,[1] also known as the data analyzer,[2] the data-reader,[3] or the data recorder,[4] is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing. It is a sensor that reads the biometrics of the person who wears it.

The bio-scanner is an orange, white and gray donut-shaped device. It has a small green screen on it.

Powers and traits

The bio-scanner is a sensor that is able to read the biometrics of a person once they engage in some sort of exercise.[5]

Crisis City

Tails developed the bio-scanner as a means of reading Sonic's biometrics as he ran so that they could discover how his speed countered the Metal Virus. Tails decided that he would analyze the data collected from the bio-scanner at his lab in Central City since the computer in Restoration HQ would not be able to handle such data.[5]

The Last Minute

With the bio-scanner on his arm, Sonic began running as far as he could, finding that the device was working exactly as intended. As he neared Barricade Town, Tails called to both confirm the bio-scanner's effectiveness and report that Eggman had hit Central City with the Metal Virus. Sonic offered to help deal with the Zombot outbreak, but Tails refused on the grounds that the bio-scanner's data could serve as a backup in case anything happened to his lab.[1] Unfortunately, the bio-scanner was destroyed when Sonic after the hedgehog destroyed Dr. Eggman's Egg Mobile at Barricade Town.[3]
