— Big the Cat, Sonic the Comic #184

Big the Cat is a character that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. He is a large anthropomorphic cat who saw Chaos after the Drakon's final defeat.

Appearance[]

Big is a very large and burly anthropomorphic cat with the majority of his body covered in purple fur with dark violet stripes running up his arms and long tail with the end frayed. His feet are covered in dark violet fur up to his ankles as well as the outer tips of his large triangular ears, on his head and around his eyes. He possesses white fur that covers his torso, upper chest and muzzle protruding outwards, and inner ears. He also has black irises with pale yellow sclera, and a small black nose.

His preferred attire consists of tan gloves, brown sandals with silver buckles, and a brown belt with a gold buckle. He is also seen carrying a fishing rod.

History[]

During a fishing trip, Big had settled down and was quietly fishing outside Robotnik's Retreat, oblivious to the great battle against Chaos occurring nearby. His fishing was interrupted by Chaos, who had been returned to his Drakon form and thrown out of the retreat by Super Sonic. As Chaos fell down, Big, much to his confusion, caught a glimpse of the Drakon falling into the pool he was fishing in.[1]

Personality[]

Big is somewhat absent-minded and not too quick on the uptake, as he stuttered and was caught completely off-guard when Chaos landed in the pool next to him.[1]

Trivia[]

  • Writer Nigel Kitching has said that he was determined to include Big in the comic. He felt that Big resembled a Miyazaki character and would have loved to build him up into a real personality, but the comic's cancellation prevented this.[2]
