Bessatsu CoroCoro Comic Special, No. 47, August 1992. The first issue to feature Sonic the Hedgehog.

Bessatsu CoroCoro Comic Special (別冊コロコロコミックSpecial?) (originally stylized as 別冊コロコロコミックスペシャル) is a bimonthly Japanese manga anthology magazine published by Shogakukan. It is targeted at elementary school aged boys and is known for featuring manga based upon popular anime, video games and toys. It was launched in late 1984 as the successor to Bessatsu CoroCoro Comic (別冊コロコロコミック?) and is a sister publication of Gekkan CoroCoro Comic (月刊コロコロコミック?). Issues are released around the 28th of every even numbered month. The issue date is always ahead of the actual publication date; for example, the October 1992 issue was published August 29, 1992.

It has featured two different manga series based upon Sonic the Hedgehog.

Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog was written and illustrated by Koichi Tanaka (田中康一 Tanaka Kōichi?).[1] It ran from the August 1992[1] issue to the June 1994[2] issue (Nos. 47–58).

It was part of a larger group of Sonic the Hedgehog manga serials, based upon an original story concept by Kenji Terada, that ran concurrently in various Shogakukan publications.

Dash & Spin Super Fast Sonic

Dash & Spin Super Fast Sonic (ダッシュ&スピン 超速ソニック Dasshu ando Supin: Chōsoku Sonikku?, lit. "Dash & Spin Super Fast Sonic") was written and illustrated by Santa Harukaze (春風邪三太?). It ran sporadically from the February 2002[3] issue to the February 2005[4] issue (Nos. 103–121).
