Bertha Kintobor (Born Robotnik)[1] is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. She was an Overlander and a member of the House of Ivo. She was the daughter of Gerald Robotnik and Jennifer Vasquez, the wife of Ivo Kintobor, and the mother of Colin and Julian Kintobor, the latter of whom would become the infamous Dr. Ivo Robotnik.[1]

Appearance[]

Bertha Kintobor was only about half a head taller than her son Colin when he had hit adolescence. She had a somewhat round head with a hardly visible neck, pale eyes, and medium-short, rust-colored curly hair. As attire, she wore a pair of blue half-frame glasses, round marble earrings, and a pink shirt with a white collar and buttons.

History[]

Know Life[]

At some point, Bertha married Ivo Kintobor. In 3184, Bertha gave birth to her and her husband's first son, Colin Kintobor,[1] and on day 253, 3189, she gave birth to their second son, Julian Kintobor,[1][2] who was gifted with incredible intellect.[3] She later died under unknown circumstances.

Legacy[]

Around 3236, Bertha was shown and mentioned as a part of a world-wide television biography on the late Robotnik Prime, which was broadcasted by a Dr. Robotnik from alternate reality following his rise to power.[3]

Trivia[]

Archie"-otherRobotnik"

"-other Robotnik"

  • To coincide with the Sega game canon, Professor Gerald was named Gerald Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog #177. This contradicted the previously established canon that the name "Robotnik" was created by Julian Kintobor when starting his military coup. Writer Ian Flynn argued that Julian took on the last name "Robotnik" from his grandfather Gerald and thus the last name already existed, as Gerald was his maternal grandfather and thus would not have had the last name Kintobor, therefore making Bertha Gerald's daughter. This was confirmed in Sonic the Hedgehog: The Complete Sonic Comic Encyclopedia.
  • A photograph of an unnamed individual identified as "Mother Robotnik" but bearing a different design can be glimpsed in Sonic the Hedgehog #21. This may either be Bertha or another relative.
