Becky

The Becky (ベッキー^[1], Bekkī^?), also spelt Beckie,^[1] is a creature that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a race of small bear Animals inhabiting West Side Island, and are close friends of Sonic the Hedgehog and his allies. The Beckies are known for having been targeted by Dr. Robotnik who seeks to use them as energy sources for his various Badniks and imprison them in Capsules for later use.

Description[]

Anatomy[]

The general Becky is a small brown-furred and rotund bear resembling a grizzly bear, although their anatomy is slightly humanoid. They have a relatively large torso, a slightly smaller head with round ears on top of their heads, stubby legs with three-toed claws, short arms with five-fingered claws, and a round tail. Other features include peach paw pads and muzzle, a black snout, black eyes, and a white crescent mark below their heads that is similar to the one on Knuckles' chest.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2[]

The Beckies first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (16-bit). In this game, the Beckies and the other Animals from West Side Island were captured by Dr. Robotnik and used to power Badnik workers which Robotnik needed to finish the Death Egg.^[2] The Beckies can be found in Casino Night Zone where they pop out of destroyed Badniks or the opened Capsule at the end of the second Act.

Sonic Mania[]

In Sonic Mania, and its expansion Sonic Mania Plus, when the player destroys the Metal Sonic hologram at the end of Stardust Speedway Zone Act 2, a few Beckies will occasionally appear until they are chased off by Metal Sonic.

In version 1.05.0713 of Sonic Mania and Sonic Mania Plus, the Beckies also appear in Press Garden Zone where they pop out of destroyed Badniks or the opened Capsule at the end of the second Act.

Trivia[]

Becky is one of the least seen Animals, along with Tocky and Micky.
