E-22 Beat,^{[citation needed]} also known simply as Beat (ビート, Bīto^?), is an enemy that appears in Sonic Adventure. It is an Mite-based E-Series robot created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance

Beat resembles closely a mite arthropods with pink metallic shells and gray undersides. Beat has pair of sharp needles on its body and it is able to crawl around with engine attachments in each side with black and yellow stripes on them.

Sonic Adventure

In Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut, Beat can be only encountered in Sonic's portion of the Final Egg. All of these robots are found on wide halls, where they are re-spawning from production pipes.

When the player enters into one of these rooms, all Beat robots will swarm slowly towards Sonic and self-destruct on impact. However, the player can defeat them without getting exploded by either using Spin Jump or Homing Attack. The player can load and perform Light Speed Dash to defeat them quickly or ignore them to proceed in the Action Stage as defeating all Beat robots in the room takes a long time. Eventually, these robots will stop spawning when enough are defeated.

Sonic Rivals 2

In Sonic Rivals 2, Beat makes a cameo as one of collectible cards. The player receives a card after getting the high score by defeating Egg Bull in Frontier Canyon Zone.

Trivia

• Instead of dropping an Animals as most E-series robots usually do after being defeated, Beat is one of the only two robots in Sonic Adventure for not containing any Animals as energy source, the other one being E-29 Egg Pirate.
