Tails' Skypatrol[]
Along with Hocke-Wulf and Carrottia, Bearanger was one of three henchmen of Witchcart, who was threatening to transform every inhabitant of the island into crystal. He was defeated by Miles "Tails" Prower.
Personality[]
Bearanger has been described as snarling and foul-tempered.[3]
In the Sonic the Hedgehog comics by IDW Publishing, he has a habit of saying “Rassa-frassin’”, “Garsarnit”, and “Galsarn”. He is also quite prideful, getting angry at Tails for attacking him from behind instead of giving him the dignity of a straight fight. Despite his temper, Bearanger fears his boss, Witchcart, and will quickly obey her orders when she gets angry.

Battle[]
Bearanger is the second boss in the game and is fought at the end of Ruin Wood. He pilots a small, light-blue rocket with a shark's face painted on it.
Boss guide[]
During the fight, he throws three small bombs at Tails at a time. Destroying each bomb gives a hundred points to the player. Like most other bosses in the game, the player has to land twenty hits or toss Bearanger into the ground four times to defeat him.

Flying Off the Rails[]
Bearanger appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comics by IDW Publishing.
Bearanger would come to Flicky Island with Witchcart and the other Witchcaters. They then conquered the island and Witchcart then put them to work capturing the island's Flickies so Witchcart could use them for her diabolical plans. However, Tails and Sonic the Hedgehog would also come to Flicky Island on vacation and find out what they were up to. Sonic impulsively went to battle the Witchcarters and overwhelmed them, but was captured when Witchcart zapped him from behind with her wand, trapping him in crystal. She then ordered Bearanger and his cohorts to get back to work. The Witchcarters then split up and Bearanger went to Gene Gadget and continued capturing Flickies. Tails would then attempt a sneak attack by hitting him from behind with a Spin Attack, but his attack proved useless against Bearanger and did nothing but anger him. Bearanger then got in his rocket and chased Tails, throwing bombs at him, until Tails got the Flickies to distract Bearanger by flying around him, making him even angrier. Bearanger then increased his rocket’s speed to full power, only for Tails to get out of the way and let the Bearanger, who was now flying too fast to make a quick turn or stop, fly into a machine with two pipes, with one pipe spitting out his rocket into a junk pile, while the other pipe spit Bearanger into a glass sphere filled with orange liquid. Trapped, Bearanger then screamed and banged on his sphere with his fists, though the sphere was sound-proof and Tails could not hear what he was saying.[1]
Trivia[]
- The prototype design of Bearanger, seen in some early beta footage of Tails' Skypatrol, had him resembling the recurring antagonist of Disney's Mickey Mouse, Pete.
- Interestingly enough, Pete himself was originally designed as a bear in the Alice Comedies and the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit shorts, before he was redesigned into a cat for his antagonism against Mickey.
- Bearanger's rocket is similar in appearance to fighter planes called Flying Tigers utilized during World War II.
- Bearanger is the only boss missing from the Japanese box artwork for Tails' Skypatrol.
- Bearanger's name is possibly intended as a portmanteau of "Bear" and "Anger", referencing his hot-headed personality. However, Ian Flynn has stated that his name was rather a play on "derringer", a type of firearm, since he rides around on a giant bullet.[4]
- Bearanger's name was translated as Bearenger in the Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia.[3]
