Battle Mode is a multiplayer mode in Sonic Superstars where up to eight players, or four players locally, can control customizable robot characters known as Metal Fighters. In this mode, players compete to win three rounds of randomly selected battle stages.
In Battle Mode, players create and personalize their own Metal Fighters using parts purchased from the in-game shop. Customization options include different character sets and color schemes, allowing for a unique appearance. Players can unlock additional parts and colors by completing specific in-game achievements. It can be played either single player or multiplayer where up to eight players can join a lobby. The one with the most amount of points throughout three events wins. There are a total of four different events that will be randomly selected.
Race[]
Players race each-other to the end of the stage.
Survival[]
Players need to stay on the stage while dodging cannonballs flying from the back of the screen. Smaller platforms collapse if hit or if players remain stationary for too long.
Star Snatcher[]
The objective is to collect as many stars as possible within the time limit while avoiding hazards and opponents. Colliding with an opponent or a hazard causes you to lose a star.
Zap Scrap[]
Players compete to achieve the highest score by shooting and damaging each other. Points are awarded for successful hits and lost when taking damage. Item Boxes provide a single powered-up bullet.
Stages[]
Stages have unique layouts compared to their single-player counterparts. With the exception of the two Green Hill arenas, all of them are recycled from the main game.
