Barricade Town[2] is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing. It is a town surrounded by large walls and serves as a distribution hub for Wispons.[3]
Description[]
Barricade Town is a small town with various quant buildings. As the name implies, the town is surrounded on all sides by extremely tall and sturdy walls which not even a Death Egg Robot can bring down. The only entrance into the town is through the large front gates.
History[]
The Eggman War[]
Shortly before the Eggman War ended, Barricade Town was saved from Dr. Eggman's forces by the mercenaries Rough the Skunk and Tumble the Skunk, who showed up and managed to drive Eggman's forces back. Rough and Tumble were subsequently let into Barricade Town when they promised to help the town improve their defenses. However, they instead took the town's Wispons and Wisps for themselves and took the townspeople prisoners within their own town. Since Badniks were roaming outside Barricade Town's walls as well, the townspeople were unable to escape their home, leaving Rough and Tumble to do whatever they wanted.[3]
Fallout! and Big's Big Adventure[]
When Barricade Town's Wispon shipments dried up, Knuckles the Echidna went to investigate the town. While there, he took care of the Badnik horde that had surrounded Barricade Town. After Knuckles defeated a Death Egg Robot, Sonic the Hedgehog showed up to check up on him, as er the request of Amy Rose. After Knuckles explained to Sonic why he was here, the two of them entered Barricade Town against the gatekeeper's wishes. There, they found the townspeople in a state of panic. Immediately after, the gatekeeper met up with Sonic and Knuckles and explained to them their town's situation. Deciding to put an end to Rough and Tumble's cruel reign, Sonic and Knuckles went to the town's supply depot-turned-fortress and confronted the mercenaries. During their battle, Big wandered around the depot looking for Froggy and denied wanting to have a battle with the skunk brothers. With the aid of the Wisps Rough and Tumble had hoarded, Sonic and Knuckles defeated the skunk mercenaries. Afterward, Rough and Tumble were hauled off to jail while Sonic and Knuckles celebrated their victory with the townspeople and the Wisps.[3][4]
Battle For Angel Island and Big's Big Adventure[]
Dr. Starline soon visited Barricade Town through the use of the Warp Topaz and used it to break Rough and Tumble out of jail. While backtracking through Barricade Town still looking for Froggy, Big saw Starline break the skunk brothers out of jail but believed him to be a magician.[5][4]
The Last Minute[]
Barricade Town soon became overrun with Zombots after several of its villagers became infected by the Metal Virus. Later on, Dr. Eggman and Dr. Starline came by the village to test out different radio frequencies on the Zombots so that Eggman could regain control of them again. Sonic arrived on the scene and demanded that Eggman reverse the effects of the Metal Virus infection but the latter stated that he could not stop it even if he wanted to. Sonic and Eggman then battled until the both of them fell to the ground of the village. Starline managed to find a working frequency with that could control the Zombots using Eggman's Egg Mobile. However, before Starline could upload the frequency to the Faceship, Sonic destroyed the Egg Mobile. Eggman and Starline quickly retreated while Sonic lamented over the fact that the bio-scanner was destroyed. Before he fully succumbed to the virus, Sonic ran as fast as he could out of the village.[6]
Bad Guys[]
Some time after the Zombot apocalypse, Rough and Tumble came to Barricade Town in an attempt to take it over again. However, the citizens managed to defeat them due to their collection of Wispons.[7]
