A banana

Bananas (バナナ, Banana^?) are items that only appear in Competition mode of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. Bananas begin inside of a bubble, that appears floating and rotating around at one point of competition Zones, along with Self-Propelled Bomb. When the player picks up a banana in the air, it falls down to the ground until a player runs over it, which causes the character to slip and thereby slow down for few seconds.

The player has to memorize the location of the Banana, where it fell after picking it up in the air. However it might become challenging during the fast moving race and sometimes the banana would be hard to recognize on the ground on certain courses.

It has a rich sweetness, like you can taste the nutrition. — Chip, after consuming a banana.

How bananas appear in Sonic Unleashed.

The fruit itself was also available in Sonic Unleashed, it can be purchased for forty Rings at Flying Fish Beach Shop located in Adabat. It is a consumable. It can be given to Chip to contribute to the BFF's and Hungry Hungry Hedgehog Achievements/Trophies.

When consumed by Sonic, will give him 10 Exp.
