Doctor Robotnik, Sonic the Hedgehog

Badniks are robots created by Doctor Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog. Robotnik utilizes them in his scheme to capture Sonic and harness his power for world conquest.

Although they have no official name, they are affectionately referred to as "Badniks" by Robotnik via a label on his breaker box.

Appearance

These robots come in a variety of models depending on the intended task, but they all bear a distinct egg-like appearance with white casings and a single red camera "eye".

Variants

Aerial

EggDroneCloseup
The most commonly used model in the film is a floating egg-shaped robot with a red camera eye approximately two feet in length and one foot in diameter. They are equipped with two twin machine gun mounts, and four retractable missile launchers. In spite of their massive offense capabilities, they must reload their machine guns periodically, during which they are vulnerable. Sonic uses this to his advantage when fighting one in the Wachowski residence. They are first deployed when Robotnik initiates a preliminary sweep. Robotnik later uses them again when he confronts Sonic and the Wachowskis on the roof of the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco.
ReconEgg
A smaller reconnaissance variant of this model was deployed by Robotnik to search the house while he spoke with Tom Wachowski. This variant used rotor blades to hover through the air.

Terrain

After pinpointing Sonic and Tom's location, Robotnik dispatches a massive tank robot named Mayhem to intercept them. This robot's primary offense is a harpoon gun capable of catching a pickup truck.
SonicMovieTrailer41
After Mayhem was destroyed, a smaller robot ejects from the wreckage to continue the chase. This robot attempts to disable Tom's truck by firing EMP mines, but is defeated when Sonic attaches one of the mines to its eye.

Another robot emerges from the remains to pursue the duo. This robot is roughly the same size as the standard flying variant, but sports a slightly different design and instead travels on a single wheel. It is equipped with two tire-shredding blades. This one is destroyed by Tom, angering Robotnik.
CuteEgg
A tiny helicopter robot pops out of the remains and picks up the chase. Arguably the most destructive out of all four, this one is armed with a laser capable of cutting through steel, and proceeds to surgically remove the top half of the truck before Sonic snaps it in half. In a last-ditch effort, the robot's eye becomes a sticky bomb and attaches itself to Sonic's glove. Although they are able to remove the bomb, Sonic is rendered unconscious by the explosion.
