As part of a devious plan to unearth the Paradox Prism and steal its power for himself, Dr. Eggman deployed a horde of Badniks (composed of Buzz Bombers and Burrobots) to distract Amy and Knuckles while Sonic battled an automated Eggcrusher, trapped with a Speed Amplifier. Although the majority of the Badniks dispatched were destroyed, they served their purpose, keeping Amy and Knuckles away from the robot, allowing for Sonic to destroy it, generating a huge energy blast in the process due to the Speed Amplifier.[2]
As the blast weakened the bedrock surrounding the Paradox Prism's cavern (which normally would have taken weeks for the Badniks to dig through), Eggman brought more Badniks up to the mountain's peak, separating them into two groups. One group defended the entrance of the cavern and generated a fake cloud to mask Eggman's operations, while another group defended the interior of the cavern and prepared to unearth the prism. However, the Badnik's guarding the entrance would soon be defeated by Amy, Knuckles, Tails, and Rouge, who had traveled up the mountain in the Tornado, suspicious of the doctor's actions.[3]
Season One[]
Upon Sonic's arrival, Eggman ordered some of the Badniks in the cavern to attack the invading heroes, while a specific group of Burrobots were ordered to begin drilling away the stone attaching the Paradox Prism to the floor. Most of these Badniks were defeated by the heroes, however, and the Burrobots were unable to break the stone keeping the prism in place, prompting Eggman to attempt to pull it out of the ground with his own mech. It is unknown what happened to the remaining active Badniks following the accidental shattering of the Paradox Prism by Sonic.[2]
