Those Badniks are a threat to everyone, organized or not.

Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog #1

Description[]

While most Badniks have their own mechanical power supplies, some of them use organic batteries in the form of small animals. These animals are kept alive inside the Badniks until they are set free or their Badnik shell is destroyed.[2] The size of the Badnik horde is limited by the time it takes to construct the Badnik shells, round up the animals, and combine the two.[3]

Units more powerful than regular Badniks are designated "Super Badniks".[4] These models are much more of a threat than regular Badniks and are occasionally even a threat to Sonic.

Fusions between two or more separate Badnik models are designated as "Quasi-Badniks",[5] and possess features of all the Badniks combined to form them.

History[]

Past[]

For many years, the Badnik Horde have tried to throw Dr. Eggman a great party in his honor on his birthday. However, the doctor would only see their antics as nonsense and try to discourage them from hosting another one. However, all that would do was seemingly encourage his Badniks, who only wanted to make Eggman happy, even more.[6]

Needing a chief commander to lead his Badnik Horde into battle, Dr. Eggman rebuilt Heavy King. However, Heavy King soon began to plot against the doctor due to his programming. After his attempt to get rid of Eggman was foiled by Metal Sonic, Heavy King took control of Metal Sonic, Metal Knuckles and Tails Doll, and had them throw Eggman out of his base. He then had the Metals seek out the Chaos Emeralds so he could conquer the world.[7]

Seasons of Chaos[]

A few Badniks would roam Spring Valley Zone, only to be destroyed by Sonic, Tails and Amy. A similar fate would befall the Badniks in Summer Falls Zone and Autumn Forest Zone when Sonic, Tails and Knuckles came through those locations. The Badnik Horde guarding Winter Caverns Zone soon after got steamrolled by the united force of heroes and villains seeking to stop Heavy King. When Heavy King then got confronted by the group of allies, he attacked them with the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds he had gathered. However, Heavy King was stopped when the group took the Chaos Emeralds from him, allowing Sonic to defeat him. Afterward, Heavy King conceded to Eggman, who promised to take Heavy King back (after he had uploaded a software patch into him that would keep Heavy King from betraying him again). Eggman then ordered his Badnik Horde to take the Chaos Emeralds from his former allies, only to discover that the group had already left with the Emeralds.[7]

Sonic Learns to Drive[]

Eventually, Eggman returned with his Badnik Horde, which he used to attack an unsuspecting city.[8]

Dr. Eggman's Birthday[]

Sonic IDW Classic Badniks Depressed

A group of Badniks, from Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary Special.

When Eggman's birthday arrived, his Badnik Horde tried to do something different: instead of throwing him a birthday party, which they suspected would not satisfy him based on previous experiences, they sought to defeat Sonic as a birthday gift to the doctor. However, just as the Badniks got ready to attack Sonic and Tails, Eggman arrived and ordered them to return to base. Complying, the Badniks went home, where Eggman scolded them for their carelessness. However, he softened up a little after seeing his Badniks' devotion to making him happy. Afterward, the Badniks brought in Eggman's birthday cake.[6]

Amy's 30th Anniversary Special[]

Dr. Eggman would command his Badniks to stop Amy Rose, Bark the Polar Bear, and Ray the Flying Squirrel from freeing the prisoners he trapped inside the Capsules.[9]

Fang the Hunter[]

Knuckles' 30th Anniversary Special[]

At some point shortly after the Northstar Islands incident, Trip would destroy a Jellyfish Mecha when her and Knuckles were traveling through Golden Capital Zone, releasing the Badnik's Flicky in the process.[10]

Pre-Eggman War[]

DeadlyBadniks

The Deadly Six controlling the Badniks, from Sonic the Hedgehog #20.

Sometime in the past, a Super Badnik named E-123 Omega was created. However, he ended up going rogue and began hunting other Eggman robots to destroy them.[11][12]

Dr. Eggman later took his Badnik Horde to the Lost Hex for "The Lost World Project". However, they were soon taken over by the Deadly Six after Sonic the Hedgehog unwillingly freed them. Regardless, Sonic soon put a stop to their evil deeds, relinquishing their control of the Badniks.[13]

At another point in the past, an Eggman base that was guarded with several Egg Pawns was taken down by the Diamond Cutters. A Blaster tank nearly joined the fray but it was shot down by Whisper the Wolf.[14]

The Eggman War and aftermath[]

During the war between the Resistance and the Eggman Empire, the Badnik Horde would fight for the Eggman Empire. Early on during this conflict, a Death Egg Robot arrived in Sunset City and tore the place up.[11] On another occasion, one Egg Pawn almost got Silver the Hedgehog, but it was sniped in the last moment by Whisper the Wolf.[15]

Shortly before the Eggman War ended, a group of Badniks were driven back from Barricade Town thanks to the efforts of Rough the Skunk and Tumble the Skunk. The two then lied about improving Barricade Town's defenses in order to take over the town's arsenal and keep the citizens imprisoned within their own town. With more Badniks stalking outside Barricade Town's wall, the citizens were forced to do whatever the duo said. The Badniks stalking outside of the town consisted of at least Egg Pawns and Death Egg Robots.[16]

BadniksGreenHIllIDW

The Badniks wandering aimlessly around after the disappearance of Eggman, from Sonic the Hedgehog #1.

After Sonic and his allies liberated their world from the Eggman Empire, Dr. Eggman disappeared while his Badnik Horde remained, having been spread everywhere across the globe.[4][17] Without a leader however, the Badniks were directionless and no longer a unified threat.[4] Even so, they would still randomly attack anyone they came across (although such incidents were more accidental than aggression-based[4]). The actions of the Badniks forced the Resistance to be more proactive and handle the rogue Badnik gangs' attacks.[17][18] In the meantime, Eggman, who had become a reformed handyman named "Mr. Tinker" after losing his memory following his last defeat, would build a free-willed helper Badnik named Belle the Tinkerer, whom he considered his daughter, to assist him with his work in his new home in Windmill Village.[19]

During their investigating to uncover Dr. Eggman's whereabouts, Team Chaotix met at least one Motobug, to which Charmy enjoyed himself by riding on top of it.[2]

Fallout![]

Eventually, the Badnik Horde came under the control of Neo Metal Sonic, who made their army more cohesive. Under his command, the Badnik Horde began attacking villages.[4]

During the following period, Sonic the Hedgehog came to the rescue of a small town called Vista View besieged by Egg Pawns and Motobugs. While smashing small-fry Badniks that were attacking the civilians, Sonic got ambushed by some Egg Hammer Super Badniks. Thanks to the timely arrival of Tails though, the two heroes managed to destroy the Egg Hammers and the rest of their troop. Soon after, a Flapper watched Sonic travel away from the town, which had Neo Metal Sonic watching the visual feedback and planning his next moves with it.[4]

DropShip

The Blowfish Transporter releasing Egg Pawns to attack the town, from Sonic the Hedgehog #2.

A Death Crab soon after attacked another town called Riverside in order to occupy Sonic and Amy while an army of Egg Pawns and Egg Walkers invaded the town from another direction. The Death Crab was eventually defeated by the combined efforts of Sonic and Amy however, who then caught onto what the other Badniks were up to. Soon after, the Badniks' first invasion wave made it inside the town. However, Sonic showed up and thinned out their numbers. Those that slipped past Sonic eventually made into the town's square. There, they got gunned down by the town's residential forces, who had been organized for battle by Amy. Although the rest of the Badniks continued their advances, their numbers got thinned out by Sonic and Amy so the town could handle the remaining ones. The duo eventually came across a Blowfish Transporter, which was releasing more Badniks. Utilizing their Croquette Bomber technique, they easily defeated the flying Badnik, ending the invasion. Meanwhile, Neo Metal Sonic's Flapper continued to observe Sonic for him.[17] More Badniks, including a Death Egg Robot, who had surrounded Barricade Town, which was under the control of Rough and Tumble, soon got destroyed by Knuckles when he came to check up on said town. After Sonic and Knuckles liberated the town from the skunk brothers, the town was finally safe from both the two mercenaries and the Badniks that were stalking outside the town. Unbeknownst to anyone, Neo Metal Sonic's Flapper would record the aftermath for him.[16]

A large battalion of Egg Pawns and giant Motobugs onboard a battleship variant of a Buzz Bomber soon after attacked Spiral Hill Village, with the battleship dropping Badniks into the village. Although the Badniks were met with opposition from the town's militia, Tangle the Lemur, and new arrivals in the form of Sonic and Blaze, they were able to keep replenishing their ranks with more Badniks from their battleship faster than the heroes could dispose of them. However, Tangle and Blaze eventually got Sonic inside the Badniks' battleship, which Sonic trashed from the inside, causing it to crash outside of village (with a nudge provided by Blaze), with all of the Badniks inside it perishing in the process.[18]

The Fate of Dr. Eggman[]

Along the way when Espio led Sonic to Windmill Village, a group of Antons and Hoverbys attacked the two heroes in a mountainous region only to end up being destroyed by them. More Anton and Hoverbys would not long after try to attack Windmill Village, but Sonic and Team Chaotix were able to destroy them, including the Flapper that had been following Sonic for some time.[2]

EggSpearIDW

Egg Pawns fighting against Sonic, from Sonic the Hedgehog #7.

When Neo Metal Sonic made his move to invade Angel Island, he used Egg Pawns to man his numerous Egg Fleet battleships. A number of Egg Pawns were present when Sonic boarded an Egg Fleet battleship with the help of Tails and the Tornado. When he encountered Neo Metal Sonic, a group of Egg Pawns were present with the Badnik ringleader. The two began fighting, and Neo Metal Sonic threw pieces of an Egg Pawn that he had accidentally destroyed at Sonic, which the hedgehog successfully dodged. Neo Metal Sonic then commanded all of his Egg Pawns to attack Sonic, and they did so with Egg Spears and shields in hand, but Sonic disposed of them all and ultimately escaped. Regardless, the rest of the Egg Pawns carried on with the invasion plan under the orders of Neo Metal Sonic.[20] In the meantime, some Spinas stationed in one of Eggman's bases tried to stop Sonic when he infiltrated their base, but their initial troops got destroyed by Sonic, Silver and Whisper. Soon after, in the center of the base, E-107 Theta and more Spinas attacked the trio of heroes. Although they put up a good fight, this horde of Badniks was still destroyed by the trio.[15]

Battle For Angel Island[]

After Neo Metal Sonic conquered Angel Island and turned it into a flying fortress, Egg Pawns and Spinas were stationed around the island. However, these Badniks soon after came under attack by the Resistance and their allies, who sought to liberate Angel Island.[21] Although the Badniks were no match for the heroes, they were able to slow down their efforts. In the end though, the Resistance and their allies succeeded in destroying the massive wing units added to Angel Island's shoreline that gave Neo Metal Sonic control over the island, leaving the Badniks on the wings to plummet down from the sky with them.[22]

While undergoing Dr. Starline's memory-restoring procedures, an amnesiac Eggman, who was still a reformed handyman, would built a Motobug that would be named Motobud that trimmed shrubs in the likeness of Sonic.[23] Knowing that his fate was sealed however, the reformed Eggman left a secret confession for Belle the Tinkerer inside Motobud in hopes that it would make its way to Belle.[24]

Jet Set Tornado and Sonic Fan Club[]

IDWBalkiry

A Stealth Balkiry stealing Resistance supplies, from Sonic the Hedgehog Annual 2019.

Eventually, a Stealth Balkiry stole a box of supplies from a Resistance warehouse. During its flight, it blew past Sonic and Tails, who decided to pursue it in the supped-up Tornado. The Stealth Balkiry tried to lose the duo through an island canyon, but the heroes quickly flew overhead it and forced it to fly into a geyser, causing it to drop the supplies it had stolen. Not long after, the Stealth Balkiry was destroyed by Sonic.[25]

While wandering around on its own in a forest, an Egg Pawn got challenged by a member of the Sonic Fan Club. When the Egg Pawn attacked the child though, the whole Sonic Fan Club joined the fight. However, they could not even harm the Egg Pawn. The Egg Pawn then met some resistance when Tangle the Lemur showed up and began attacking it, but she ended up immobilizing herself. Fortunately, the Egg Pawn got destroyed by Sonic when he passed by.[26]

Infection[]

After the Badnik Horde came under the control of Dr. Eggman again (who had regained his memory and old personality), several Motobugs and at least one Snowy assisted Dr. Starline with clearing out the contents of an Eggman base in Frozen Peak while under the protection of Metal Sonic. With the aid of a wormhole provided by Starline's Warp Topaz, the Badniks were able to quickly get the base's contents to safety.[27] In the meantime, the Badnik construction force was used by Eggman to build the Faceship in record time. After the Faceship took off and came over Windmill Village, a Nebula brought Eggman the microphone for the Faceship's speakers.[3]

Tangle & Whisper[]

WhisperVBuzzBombers

A group of Buzz Bombers shoot at Whisper, from Sonic the Hedgehog: Tangle & Whisper #4.

In an abandoned Eggman Empire facility, Mimic employed the use of an Egg Hammer that wielded a wrecking ball. It went on to attack Whisper. Whisper used her Variable Wispon's Spikes Mode to cut the chain of the Egg Hammer's wrecking ball. She then switched to the Wispon's Rocket Mode and shot at the Egg Hammer's torso, which destroyed it.[28] Later, Eggman provided Mimic with a large squadron of Badniks for him to attack Tangle and Whisper with at the former Diamond Cutters base. However, Whisper managed to destroy the entire horde using her Variable Wispon.[29]

The Last Minute[]

Sometime later, Zavok used his electromagnetic powers to take control of a Motobug in order to demonstrate his powers to Dr. Starline.[30]

Out of the Blue[]

In Starline's repository, he had several Egg Pawns in his service move boxes with Eggman's items in them around.[31]

Bad Guys[]

At Egg Base Sigma, Egg Pawns and Motobugs would patrol the site. When Dr. Starline was discovered trying to break into the base however, some Motobugs tried to catch him, only to get destroyed by the doctor. Several Egg Pawns then came to apprehend Starline, but he managed to escape them. Later in Dr. Starline's Repository, Egg Pawns and Motobugs in service to Starline would work around the repository. Some time after Starline had recruited Mimic, Rough, Tumble and Zavok, an Egg Pawn walked around to serve them tea. Tumble sat on it and drank from the kettle it had while Rough rode around on a Motobug.[32][33]

Many Badniks were guarding one of Eggman's warehouses housing Power Cores. These Badniks would fight Mimic, Rough, Tumble and Zavok when they arrived on the scene, but were soon disposed of.[33] More Badniks stationed at one of the Eggnet hubs were later attacked by the same crew of villains, but ended up getting wiped out by them as well. Soon after, Starline used the Eggnet to order all the Badniks in the region to protect them. In the meantime, Eggman mobilized his other Badniks for an aerial bombardment of the intruders at his Eggnet hub. Soon after though, Starline's allies turned on him, and Zavok forced Starline to put the region's Badniks under his command.[34] Zavok soon after had his Badniks in the hub search for Starline when he escaped them. When Dr. Eggman then arrived at the hub, Zavok ordered the local Badniks to shoot Eggman and his Balkiry squadron down. However, the hub, and most of its Badniks, were soon reduced to rubble by Eggman and his Balkiries. Regardless, Zavok survived the onslaught, and made an Egg Knight carry him to safety.[35]

Chao Races and Badnik Bases[]

After Sonic and Tails met Belle in an abandoned Eggman base, the residential Badniks were alerted to Tails' intrusions on the base's computer. As such, Beats began swarming the heroes. An Egg Keeper also tried to capture Tails, but ended up capturing Belle instead until Tails destroyed it.[36] As more Egg Keepers and Beats arrived though, the heroes managed to break out of the base and escape the Badniks with Belle's aid. Belle then came with Sonic and Tails to White Park Grand Chateau where she joined up with Amy's crew. Not long after, Clutch the Opossum, who had gathered a collection of used Badniks in his suite at the White Park Grand Chateau, would activate them and have them attack Amy, Belle and her friends when they crossed them.[37] Though Amy and Gemerl fought back, they were slowly overwhelmed by the Badniks. Fortunately, with assistance from the Chao that Belle freed from their cage in Clutch's suite, the heroes were able to turn the tides and defeat the Badniks.[38]

Test Run![]

SonicIDW Hyrbid Badniks

Quasi-Badniks in Eggman's test chambers, from Sonic the Hedgehog #38.

In his bid to find new ways for his Badniks to evolve, Dr. Eggman began creating Quasi-Badniks, special Badniks comprised of two or more other Badniks in order to discover new ways to best dominate whatever environment they would find themselves in. He then had his Badniks stationed in a tower that he built out the coast of Seaside City, where he could personally bend the laws of spatiality. He then sent several of his Badniks into a labyrinth area that he built inside that tower that grew and folded back on itself ad infinitum but knew that his Badniks would burn out long before they could escape.[39]

Some Egg Pawns would manage Eggman's tower, only to be destroyed by Sonic, Tails and Amy when they arrived. At the same time, an Egg Pawn would traverse the labyrinth made by Eggman using chalk to draw on the walls. It did this until Sonic and co. arrived and destroyed it.[40] Meanwhile, other Buzz Bombers and Egg Pawns would continue their work inside the tower, not realizing that Tangle and Belle were sneaking past them. When an Egg Pawn patrol then matched through the tower, they would ignore Belle when she fell in front of them since she was a Badnik too. Meanwhile, inside Eggman's test chambers, Sonic and co. came across some Quasi-Badniks, which were quickly destroyed by Sonic and Amy. However, a horde of Quasi-Badniks soon after came marching down the streets, forcing Sonic and co. to barricade themselves inside a house.[41] As the army of Quasi-Badniks surrounded Sonic, Tails, and Amy when they got out of the house however, they all fell into the sky when Eggman reversed the gravity in their test chamber.[42] All the remaining Badniks in the tower would later be destroyed when it imploded from an overloaded test chamber portal.[39]

Zeti Hunt![]

Following the attack on the Eggnet hub, Zavok's Egg Knight continued to support the former on his march. Eventually, Zavok used it to connect to the Eggnet and determine the location of the closest Deadly Six members. This Egg Knight later helped Zavok and Zazz attack Riverside. However, it got destroyed by a Restoration soldier in Vista View.[43]

As the Deadly Six attacked Restoration HQ, Belle got abducted by Dr. Starline, who would take Belle to a hideout and copy the data he needed from her emotional intelligence for Operation: Remaster. Though Belle was rescued by Team Chaotix in the end, Starline escaped capture.[19][44]

Imposter Syndrome and Trial by Fire[]

After modifying and priming Surge and Kit for Operation: Remaster, Dr. Starline had the pair go through hundreds of tests, several of which pitted them against his Badniks at Starline Base Sigma.[45] Towards the end, for one of the final tests of Surge and Kit's performance, Starline had them go up against Egg Pawns on an obstacle course. These Badniks were easily torn apart by Surge.[46]

IDW46Pre3

Belle and the friendly Motobug, from Sonic the Hedgehog #46.

While investigating a strange noise on the Forest Ridge Zone Campground at night, Belle found Motobud, who wound up knocking her out.[47] Fortunately, the good-natured Motobud would drag Belle away from the fire that errupted in the forest. As Belle then came to, Motobud extinguished the fire on Belle's hand. Belle in returned convinced Tangle to not harm Motobud when she found them. Motobud subsequently came along on Tangle and Belle's search for Ashe and Red Hot, whom they found on the other side of a ravine. As Tangle and Belle began sliding uncontrollably towards the ravine however, Motobud got both of them to ride it, and by working together, they crossed the ravine. Regrouping with Ashe, Motobud tried to make out of the burning forest with the others. However, when a caving tree made its friends fall towards the ravine, Motobud went to check on them. Finding its friends dangling from the edge, Motobud got knocked into the ravine as well by the caving tree with the others when the cliff's edge gave in.[48] Landing in the river below, Motobud was held onto by Tangle's tail as the river took the group to the local campground. Upon arriving there, its appearance would startle Jewel, but Belle and Tangle assured her that Motobud was nice. Motobud would then help Belle rescue campers that got caught up in Jewel's plan to stop the forest fire. Afterward, Motobud was brought to Tails' workshop, where Tails planned to take a look at it to see if they could find a way to make lesser Badniks defy their programming like Motobud had.[49]

The Antons guarding Egg Base Alpha were soon after attacked by Surge, who reduced them to scrap, when she and her cohorts infiltrated the base. Meanwhile, an Egg Pawn guard got reprogrammed by Starline through an ambush, prompting it to permit Starline access to the base's insides. Eventually though, an Egg Breaker attacked Surge and Kit, but was defeated after a brutal battle. Several Antons subsequently surrounded the victorious duo, only to applaud them. Starline then used a Mic Drop, which served as a microphone for the base, to publicly announce to Surge and Kit that he had successfully taken control of the base and its Badniks with his override program. As such, the base's Egg Pawns welcomed Surge and Kit while serving Starline and continuing their work.[50] Meanwhile, in an attempt to rebuild his criminal empire, Clutch the Opossum moved the remainder of his accumulated Badnik parts to a warehouse on Central City's docks, where he would ship them out to other bidders with the aid of Rough and Tumble. However, when Team Chaotix tracked them down, Vector dumped Clutch's collection of Badnik parts into the sea.[51]

IDW-MysticCaveZone

The Badnik Horde getting taken over by Dr. Starline's override program, from Sonic the Hedgehog: Imposter Syndrome #4.

Sonic, Tails, and Belle eventually gathered a group of Akatentos and Ginpes at Tails' Workshop for an experiment to see if they could apply Motobud's nonaggression subroutine to lesser Badniks. After Belle had transferred Motobud's programming to the Badniks with the Miles Electric, the Badniks were rendered docile and uninterested in Sonic when he was unveiled before them. With their experiment a success, Belle and Motobud celebrated their success by cuddling.[24] Later during that night, the Badniks stationed in Eggperial City found Starline, Surge and Kit intruding on their turf. Various Badniks tried to stop them, but the trio were able to make short work of them. After Starline then left the group to upload his override program, Surge and Kit went to work battling more Badniks around Eggperial City in order to distract Dr. Eggman. Meanwhile, Egg Pawns in Eggman's HQ would help Eggman survey Surge and Kit. Eventually though, Starline successfully uploaded his override program into Eggperial City's servers, prompting the city to send out an override signal from its central tower that brought the entire Badnik Horde under his control. As the Badniks in Eggman's HQ came for him, Eggman fled through his escape chute to the Memorial Garage. After then having the Badniks in Eggperial City escort him to his new seat of power, Starline sent his override code through the Eggnet, ordering every Badnik from around the world to head to Eggperial City in order to lure in Sonic and destroy him.[52]

Starline's control signal affected Belle and Motobud as well. When Sonic and Tails tried to stop them, Belle and Motobud attacked them until Tails broke the signal's control over Belle with a Zeti Zapper prototype and Sonic pinned down Motobud. Afterward, the trio set Motobud free and began following it in order to discover the source of the beacon signal. Along the way, the converging Badniks would ignore other people, unless the latter interfered with them. Eventually though, when they discovered Eggperial City, Belle tried to stop Motobud, prompting the surrounding Badniks to attack her, Sonic, and Tails. Fortunately, Belle got the Badniks to call off their attack after she shut down Motobud. Afterwards, Belle found Mr. Tinker's confession for her inside the Motobug. Following from some encouragement from Sonic, Belle went with the hedgehog and Tails into Eggperial City.[24]

Battle for the Empire[]

StH50-Badniks

Sonic, Tails and Belle surrounded by Badniks in Eggperial City, from Sonic the Hedgehog #50.

Inside Eggperial City, Badniks under Dr. Starline's control would roam about. Those in the city's control center, however, went for cover when Dr. Eggman returned in the Egg Emperor and launched an attack at Starline. Soon after, more Badniks went after Belle when she was left all alone in the city. However, they lost her when she went into hiding with a deactivated Metal Sonic. When a Motobug found Belle however, Belle brought Metal Sonic online in time for him to destroy the Motobug before it could attack them. Later, Belle modified a strangely friendly Fullboar into helping her find Sonic and Tails in the city. However, after Eggman regained control over his Badniks after having defeated Starline and retaken his empire, the doctor had the Badniks in his city surround Sonic, Tails and Belle.[53]

Misadventures[]

At one point, a Giant Chopper emerged from a mountain and began attacking Silver and Mimic (disguised as "Duo"). The Giant Chopper chomped down on the struggling Silver, with Duo refusing to help him and proceeding to ditch Silver so that he could get eaten by the large Badnik. Unfortunately for the Giant Chopper, it would get ambushed and destroyed by the Diamond Cutters, who used their Wispons to easily destroy the Badnik from behind, allowing Silver to escape from their jaws. Silver would then use his Psychokinesis to throw away the giant Badnik's body.[54]

IDW Egg Base Delta Badniks

Several Badniks defending Egg Base Delta, from Sonic the Hedgehog #65.

Several Badniks helped defended Egg Base Delta against Knuckles, Vector, Espio, and Charmy when they broke into the city and began attacking them in order to gain Dr. Eggman's intention (as the heroes thought that he and his Badniks were the ones who stole their relic). However, Eggman informs Knuckles and Team Chaotix that he only has his Badniks steal things that he deems as important or valuable to him personally, which the relic was not (as he had no care or interest in it whatsoever). Afterwards, Knuckles and the Chaotix would leave Eggman and his Badniks alone for the time being, as they proceeded to leave Egg Base Delta.[55]
