Let's make some noise! This attack can pass through anything, and shuts down your rivals' items if it hits!

— Description, Sonic Forces: Speed Battle

The Audio Assault is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a Projectile Item used primarily to attack rivals.

Description[]

The Audio Assault's icon take the appearance of a magenta circle that showcases the volume of music around its outside with a purple digital presentation, as it moves forward while leaving a green trail of rings behind it.

Overview[]

In gameplay, the Audio Assault can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by DJ Vector and Punk Zazz. As with most other Items, Metal Sonic can also use the Audio Assault if he uses the Steal Item to steal it from the aforementioned user.

Once obtained, the player can utilize the Audio Assault by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the user sets loose the Audio Assault's projectile which travels slowly down the lane it was deployed on in front of the user. As this power-up moves forward, the Whirlwind will pass through any obstacle. Rival characters that make contact with the Audio Assault will take damage, causing them to lose Rings and slow down momentarily. In addition, rival characters hit by the Audio Assault will have their Item slots on the bottom of the HUD locked for a short time, thus temporarily preventing the player from using the power-ups stored in them.

The Audio Assault can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 6 and 12 respectively. For each upgrade, the player will get the chance to obtain more Audio Assualts to use in the Projectile Item slot from a single Item Box; for the first upgrade, there is a chance of getting two Audio Assualts, and for the second upgrade, there is a chance of getting three Audio Assaults.
