The third Atomic Destroyer Zone boss is the third of the four bosses fought in Atomic Destroyer Zone Act 3 in Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble. The mech has two strategies for defeat. It is fought after defeating the second Atomic Destroyer Zone boss.
After destroying the previous mech, the player will immediately move on to face the next stage of the battle with Dr. Robotnik. There, Robotnik brings out a significantly more dangerous creation of his: a flying vehicle with a flamethrower attachment on the bottom of its hull. In battle, the vehicle hovers in midair and follows the player, charging up and periodically sweeping the floor with its flamethrower. It is easy to see when it is going to strike, due to the flames emitting from the bottom of the attachment. The flamethrower attachment is relatively easy to strike with a Spin Jump, but the player must watch out for when the flamethrower fires. After sixteen hits, the flamethrower will detach itself from the vehicle and self-destruct on the ground. The explosion from the attachment will spreads across the floor and can still damage the playable character however.
After that, Robotnik brings out a second weapon: an electrical cannon that shoots energy balls periodically. During the fight from then on, the vehicle's movement becomes much more erratic, meaning the player must time their Spin Jumps more carefully. Though the cannon will be sparking with electricity while it is charging, the player can still hit it with a Spin Jump in order to inflict damage, although they most avoid the periodic discharges of electricity. After the player has hit the vehicle seventeen more times (or once if struck when the conduits are not sparking), the vehicle starts exploding, ending the second phase. Robotnik then retreats to the core chamber of Atomic Destroyer Zone, where the final battle against him takes place.
