Modeled after the Indigo Wisp, the Asteroid Wispon is an orb-shaped Wispon. This orb is colored indigo on one half and black on the other. The Asteroid Wispon also has a lens up front and is surrounded by a mechanical yellow planetary ring.
Features and abilities[]
As its name implies, the Asteroid Wispon can use the power of the Indigo Wisp and essentially allow the Avatar to use the power of the Indigo AsteroidColor Power without transforming into the Color Power. The basic fire of the Asteroid Wispon locks on to up to five enemies and then fires a figure at one of the locked on enemies.
Like when using an actual Color Power though, the Asteroid Wispon is activated by the Indigo Wisps' cooperation, meaning it cannot be used by users that the Indigo Wisps do not like.[3]
Overview[]
When in use, the Asteroid Wispon produces five humanoid figures made up of indigo cubes that stand in a circle around the wielder when they stand still, and will mimic the wielder's stance and movements. When moving at high speeds however, the cubes will disperse and float behind the wielder in a loose cloud shape, although they will return to normal when the wielder stops moving.
The basic Asteroid Wispon is unlocked by defeating Dr. Eggman and his Egg Dragoon during their boss fight in Green Hill. By advancing through the game, the player can unlock different variants of the Asteroid Wispon. These variants all have the same basic functions, but offer additional skills to the player when equipped:
Enables you to perform sequential Wire Attacks faster.
9
Gives a boost of speed when landing.
Awards bonus points when you collect a chain of Rings.
Awards bonus points when you defeat enemies in a chain.

Shortly before the end of the war between the Resistance and the Eggman Empire, Barricade Town, a town that distributed Asteroid Wispons, got taken over by the mercenaries Rough and Tumble, who took all the town's Wispons and Wisps for themselves.[4]
After the Eggman War, the Asteroid Wispons in Barricade Town got returned to their owners after Sonic and Knuckles defeated Rough and Tumble.[4]
