Ashe's father, also known as the Park Ranger, is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing. He is an anthropomorphic bear and the father of Ashe. He is also the ranger to the Forest Ridge Zone Campground.
Appearance[]
Ashe's father is a brown-furred anthropomorphic bear with peach skin and green eyes. For attire, he wears a peach, green, and blue vest, gloves, and hiking boots.
History[]
Past[]
During the Metal Virus outbreak, him along with his son Ashe were infected and damaged the Forest Ridge Zone Campground after they continue running the campsite.
Trial By Fire[]
Once Amy, Jewel, Tangle and Belle, arrive at the Forest Ridge Zone Campground, they stop by the entrance to meet the bear. he would inform them about the danger of the area being prone to catching fire due to the aftermath of the metal virus. After giving them their campsite, the bear gets pranked on by his son Ashe and a Red Wisp named Red Hot who burned the map the bear needed.[1]
During their trip a forest fire starts not too far from the campsite, The Ranger with Amy and Jewel are running from the fire while trying to find a way to stop the fire or a stampede would start. The Ranger gets yelled at by an old man that angrily tells him about the fire. The Ranger tries to reason with the old man and explaining about his son's disappearance, the old man accuses Ashe and red hot for being the ones responsible for the fire. Amy quickly uses her hammer to break up the fight and has the campers work together to escape from the fire while Tangle and Belle continue searching for Ashe deeper in the forest. [2]
Soon after hearing from Ashe about Surge and Kit being responsible for starting the fire, Tangle and Belle continue their journey back to the campsite. After going through some rough waters and hanging onto safety, Tangle and Belle arrive back at the campsite and the Ranger is happily reunited with his son. Later on, Amy proceeds to put out the fire and returns home to tell Sonic and Tails about her camping experience. She would go on to tell them about Tangle leaving to find Whisper and that if Sonic went along on their camping trip, he wouldn't be able to handle the flooding water. But back at the campsite, the Ranger notices all the trees are burnt until he notices footprints. He notifies the Firewatch that it wasn't an accident and Ashe had nothing to do with the fire, leaving the bear unknowing of Surge and Kit.[3]

Ashe has a strong loving bond with his father. When Forest Ridge Zone Campground has a forest fire, he is very worried for his son and tries to find him in the forest. When Ashe is found, they run to each other for a hug, further showing their strong bond.[3]

- Ashe's father, as well as his occupation of teaching fire safety, is a homage to Smokey the Bear, a well-known American fire-safety mascot, who is known for his quote: "Only you can prevent wildfires".
- Ashe's father, alongside his son and Elder Scruffy, were featured in an advertised poster for the Tokyo Fire Department Disaster Preparedness Week 2024, marking their first appearances in media outside of the IDW comic series.
