Arthur Sylvannia is a character who was set to appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. He was an extremely powerful Hedgehog knight.
Appearance[]
Due to the unfinished nature of his debut issue, not much is discernible about his appearance due to it being in black and white. However, he bears an extremely similar, if not nearly identical, appearance to Excalibur Sonic. Whether or not this meant his armor and fur would have been of a similar color is unknown.
Powers and Abilities[]
Arthur was likely an extremely powerful knight and swordsman, given his accomplishment of uniting various nations together.
History[]
In ancient times, Arthur Sylvannia united the land and the noble families from across the nations, forming the Knights of the Round. Among this group was Kay Acorn and Bédoier D'Coolette, with the latter being rewarded by his service in assisting the former in retaking his homeland and rebuilding the Kingdom of Acorn, while the latter remained behind as the king's close knight while maintaining his friendship with Kay. This in turn led to a tradition where a D'Coolette is sent to the Kingdom of Acorn, whereas the kingdom sends a noble heir to stay under a family loyal to Avalon.[1]
Trivia[]
- Due to Kay Acorn being the ancestor of Sally Acorn and Bédoier D'Coolette being the ancestor of Antoine D'Coolette, it is likely that Arthur Sylvannia was intended to be the ancestor of Sonic the Hedgehog. Whether or not this idea would have been approved by Sega is unknown.
- This is made even more likely given that Arthur Sylvannia bears an uncanny resemblance to Sonic.
- His first name was inspired by the fact that the game version of Sonic was named the "true King Arthur" in Sonic and the Black Knight, while his last name is likely taken from Sylvania Castle Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II.
