A Crowning Achievement

Part 1

Princess Sally requests to talk to Sonic which gives Sonic a chance to show off in front of her, using his speed. They had a brief flirt, with Sonic mentioning her change of hair color (from Issue 0) before Sally throws a jewellery box to Sonic.

Sonic catches it although not that impressed until told that by Sally it is her fathers, and holds the Crown of Acorns and along with it the Freedom Emeralds that adorn the top of the Crown.

Sally advises that she has decided to wear the crown, in the hope that the power of the emeralds will help them in their bid of finding her father, King Maximillian Acorn.

Sonic worries about what would happen if they were ever stolen although Sally reassures him, telling him that Antoine and his Royal Guard are in charge of guarding the crown. Sally asks Sonic to crown her but when Sonic opens the box the crown is gone!

Antoine cannot believe it as he trained everyone of the guardsman, but unbeknownst to him Doctor Robotnik had infiltrated the Royal Guard with a Badnik. To find out which one Sonic burns rubber and sets of the new fire alarm which Boomer had installed which led to the sprinklers going off, with all the real Guards getting wet while the spy was only getting rusty.

Under questioning the robot guard lets it be known that Doctor Robotnik has spread the Freedom Emeralds to the four corners of Mobius before he sets off his self-destruct mechanism. Sonic reacts quickly and carries him out the room at Sonic Speed just before the detonation.

Part 2

Part two opens up with Sally thinking that Sonic is dead, but of course he isn't. Sonic explains that he rushed up the secret entrance at Warp Sonic Speed just before the robot exploded. Sonic also mentions he saw a Robotnik Blimp with an escort of Buzzbombers and Bat Brains.

At this point Sally demands that both Sonic and Antoine work together to get back the Freedom Emeralds, much to the disgust of the both of them but they are both soon heading for the Robotnik Blimp in a hot-air balloon.

When the two in their hot-air balloon get close enough, they are attacked by the Buzzbombers and Bat Brains, which burst the balloon. Antoine bails out, using a parachute, while Sonic uses his Sonic Spin to destroy all the badniks and the Robotnik Blimp before being caught by Antoine and safely landing back on the ground.

With them, falls a SWATBot, holding one of the Freedom Emeralds. Sonic takes the Freedom Emerald which comes away from the broken SWATBot and thanks to the advice of Antoine interrogates the SWATBot and finding out Robotnik has ordered them to be hidden by air, land, sea and underground.

Sonic then passes the Freedom Emerald to Antoine to return to Princess Sally, before rushing off after the next one.

Part 3

Tails is fishing at the old fishing hole when Sonic rushes past and into the water. Unfortunately for Tails his fishing line has been caught on Sonic's leg and he is also dragged into the water.

Sonic is heading for the secret cave, first seen in Sonic the Hedgehog #1 story 'Something Fishy' when he is once again attacked by a Jaws. Sonic manages to get to the cave, and reach the Emerald.

Jaws then attacks, but not until Sonic and Tails have drew themselves onto the Cave wall which the Jaws mistakes as the real two. Jaws smashes into it, leaving him in a crumpled heap. Sonic and Tails head for the surface with the Freedom Emerald.

Part 4

Sonic tells Tails to return the Emerald to Sally while he goes hunting for the other two. While at the same time a SWATBot is given orders by Doctor Robotnik.

Unfortunately for Robotnik and the SWATBot, the bot seems to be malfunctioning. Sonic grabs the emerald out of his hand. Just when he does though the ground below him gives away and he falls into an underground cavern where he runs into a Burrobot. The Burrobot grabs the emerald off Sonic before trying to put a hole in him with his drill which Sonic dodges.

Sonic then uses his speed, making the Burrobot dizzy before stealing the two Emeralds. When Sonic tries to return the Emeralds he becomes lost in the catacombs of the underground before having the idea that he would Sonic Spin up through to the surface. Which, when he does he ends up right inside Boomer's workshop where Boomer, Sally, Tails and Antoine is waiting for him with the Crown of Acorns.

Once repaired, Boomer then crowns Sally, before the end creditors. Although there is an extra page of Doctor Robotnik complaining that he only had a single cameo on a SWATBot Communicator screen.
