Trivia
Like the "Genesis" story arc in Sonic the Hedgehog #226-#229, this issue's arc was going to celebrate Sonic's anniversary.
Also like the "Genesis" story arc, it used the term "Genesis" as part of its title, in reference to the Sega Genesis console, which the original Sonic the Hedgehog video game appeared on.
Additionally, this was going to be the first pencilling work by Matt Herms for the Archie Comic series in seven years.[2]
After the series was officially confirmed to be cancelled, Tracy Yardley released all twenty of the issue's fully inked pages online and subsequently auctioned them off, alongside the few pencilled pages from the following issue.
