Synopsis[]
The story begins with Antoine D'Coolette proposing to Bunnie Rabbot, while Sonic and Amy Rose look from afar giving him support. Bunnie accepts and Sonic and Amy go over to congratulate the happy couple. Sonic is impressed Antoine had the courage to propose. Bunnie wonders where Sally is so she can tell her the news.
Meanwhile, Sally is talking to Knuckles via a computer transmitter. He informs them that Mina Mongoose's world tour has started off fine. He also tells them Vector got wind that Rouge had stolen the Master Emerald and is selling it to the highest bidder. Rotor says it doesn't make any sense, since Rouge has only ever wanted it for herself. Sally replies it doesn't matter the reason; they must secure the Master Emerald no matter what, especially with so many dangerous forces at large. Sally asks Knuckles if he has talked to his dad about this. Knuckles says they aren't on speaking terms and he will return to Knothole as soon as possible to take care of Rouge. Sally declines his offer and tells him the Freedom Fighters owe him this. She volunteers herself, Sonic, Bunnie, and Antoine to take care of the mission.
Later that night, the Freedom Fighters are stationed in the marshlands where the auction is taking place. Sonic complains about doing a mission right after Ant and Bunnie's engagement. He also complains about Sally's lack of participation. Antoine, watching across the field with Sonic, explains inconvenient assignments are a part of the job and Sally has been busy ruling Knothole while her father fights off his sickness. Sonic is impressed with Ant' being the voice of reason. Meanwhile, Bunnie and Sal also look across the swampland. Sally confesses to Bunnie putting them on this mission was selfish of her. She tears up while saying she has not been a part of the Freedom Fighters for a long time and, and seeing her and Antoine getting engaged is making her feel jealous. Bunnie reassures her they are still friends and she can open up to her. Sally says she wants to but soon sees that their first guest had arrived. Nack the Weasel shows up and begins to tango with Sally and Bunnie. Sonic and Antoine hear the commotion and run off the help out, but are cut off by Bark and Bean, who are on Extreme Gear. Sonic takes on Bean, while Antoine faces Bark. The Freedom Fighters take care the thugs easily, meet up, and prepare to go after Rouge.
Rouge is awaiting bidders for the emerald and believes no one is going to show up, but then Mammoth Mogul and Ixis Naugus arrive to steal the Master Emerald. Mogul reveals he was set free by "Anonymous" while in the Egg Grapes in return for his Chaos Emerald, but the experience had left him de-powered and Naugus more animal than wizard. Mogul attempts to grab the emerald, only for Sonic and Bunnie to stop him. Mogul sends Naugus to defeat them using his new shadow-melding abilities, but he is easily knocked out by Bunnie. Mogul then confronts them himself using his Ixis Magicks, but he is knocked out by Princess Sally on Nack's Marvelous Queen.
Sonic an Sally then attempt to arrest Rouge, but she reveals that she didn't steal the Master Emerald, revealing a table, a blanket, and a green lantern, and that it was all just part of a sting operation. Sally asks why she didn't contact them about it any why she did it for the Freedom Fighters. Rouge replies she works alone and she did it so she could prove to Knuckles she could be a "good girl" and play by the rules. After they tied up all the criminals on Nack's Marvelous Queen, Bunnie and Antoine ask Sally and Sonic to be to be their Maid of Honor and Best Man. They accept and Sally finally gets to congratulate the couple. Bunnie picks up Amy, Sonic picks up Sal, and they all head back to Knothole.
Meanwhile, Snively reports to Dr. Eggman that Bean, Bark and Nack have not reported in and they may have been captured. Eggman then reveals he knew it must have been a trap, but hired the three Mercenaries to be sure. Snively then tells him that the Egg Fleet has been finished ahead of schedule, and that his other project will be finished right on time.

During their stay, they discovered Chao get the traits of whatever they are exposed to the most (speed, flight, strength, etc.), and they have a strange life-cycle. They grow up and mature very fast as a natural form of reincarnation to make up for their short life spans.
