Synopsis[]

The issue begins with Dr. Eggman, Orbot and Cubot in the Egg Mobile: they've just discovered the Lost Hex and they're planning to colonize it. After landing, the group meets Zavok, who starts destroying Badniks and tries to hit Eggman, but he pulls out the Cacophonic Conch and plays it, enslaving Zavok and the Deadly Six. The scientist orders the Zeti to capture all the Mobini and bring them to him in a capsule.

A few hours ago in Green Hill Zone, Sonic got a tip by Tails, who asked him to reach Amy and Knuckles: they're comforting a few Mobini, worried for their captured friends. Sonic and Tails assure them that they will find the animals and they get the Tornado. A few moments later, the duo spots Eggman in the Egg Mobile, carrying a capsule full of Mobini. Sonic forces Eggman to drop it and the mad genius does so; Sonic fails the attempt to grab the capsule and while following the capsule, Eggman shots the Tornado with his laser gun, but Tails keeps the control. Shortly after, Sonic and Tails spot the Lost Hex and they prepare for landing.

Trivia[]

  • This adaption for Sonic Lost World is twenty pages long, making it the longest adaption for a Sonic the Hedgehog game in the Archie Comics.
  • The whole second half of the comic, where Sonic and Tails chase Eggman to the Lost Hex, is a word-for-word recreation of the opening scene from the Sonic Lost World video game.
  • This is the first full Sonic story to be pencilled by Ryan Jampole, who had previously stepped in for Jamal Peppers to pencil the last few pages of Mega Man #25 (part of the When Worlds Collide crossover).
  • During the Sonic Lost World Charity Playthrough livestream, Ian Flynn stated that the story actually will be canon to the main continuity "later".
    • Despite this, the intro box on the first page states "Sonic's World, Now...". Although, "Earth" is also called "Sonic's world" within the main continuity in games like Sonic Colors and Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II, as well as the IDW comics.
    • During a BumbleKast podcast, Ian Flynn has stated that the canonical state of the prequel comic itself would be "safe enough" to be part of the main canon.[1]
