Synopsis[]

The story begins with Lara-Le leaving after praying at the Aurorium heading back to her apartment, when she discovers Knuckles within. She hugs him and Wynmacher enters announcing that he knew that Knuckles was back. He leaves them to catch up with her main question being how he came back. Knuckles explains to her that he created an energy tunnel by himself, but doesn't know how. Lara-Le argues that he was born the same as any echidna, but believes that Locke has something to do with it. She has a flashback of her noticing different signs of his advancement for his age. She goes on questioning Locke about his parenting techniques by pushing Knuckles to excel and learn. She went to Jenna-Lu, Locke's mother and Knuckles' grandmother, for guidance and tried to follow her advice, but realized she was brought up differently and that she's different now.

At Haven, all of the members of the Brotherhood of Guardians have gathered, including "Tobor" to discuss important matters. Tobor gives them news that he has had a peaceful time in the Dragon Kingdom except when Sonic and Tails were involved in serious business. Thunderhawk slams his fist on the table yelling that they were nothing but trouble in Downunda. They continue to discuss Sonic until Sabre interrupts Thunderhawk and Sojourner. They turn to the monitors to Fire Ants; Deo Volente, Semper Fidelis and Archimedes are listening in. Semper state that the Guardian's mission as always been to act as protector of the Floating Island, while the Brotherhood has done work on a global scale. He finishes with that they could continue to conduct usual business or be a guiding force to lead the echidnas and other species to a new golden age.

Back in Echidnaopolis, Knuckles is still at his mother's apartment, and has dinner with Lara-Le and Wynmacher. Knuckles is surprised by them eating fancy when Lara-Le tells him that Wynmacher has asked her to marry him overjoyed with happiness. Knuckles, depressed, leaves the table, and runs out of the building. Lara-Le tries to go after him, but Wynmacher reassures her that he needs some time alone. Outside, the Chaotix try to stop him, but Julie-Su objects that she should go by herself. Espio and Mighty calm Vector and Julie-Su down, and she heads off to find Knuckles.

Back at Haven, Sabre brings the attention of Knuckles to the Brotherhood and his guidance from Athair. Most of them don't see the problem with this, except Spectre. He argues with them that he warned them of tampering with the natural order to Locke, causing an argument between the two. They are calmed down by the other members and begin discussing the issue in a serious way.

In the city, Knuckles is sitting over a dock when Julie-Su sits down next to him to give him company. She instantly leans over to him and gives him a kiss to "return the favor" when he cheered her up. They stay on the docks looking out onto the water talking to each other under the full moon.
