The Chaotix Caper: Part Three of Three: Picking up the Pieces[]

Synopsis[]

The issue starts with the doctors in Echidnaopolis continuing to treat Charmy, who has been badly affected by "lemon sundrop dandelion", and immediately cuts to Julie-Su being thrown off a building by Downtown Ebony Hare and company. As they leave the scene, Julie-Su pulls out a grappling hook and saves herself from the fall.

After breaking through a window into the building, she shortly runs into Constable Remington, who helps her escape without getting caught by Ebony's thugs. After escaping, they return to Harry's cab, and tell him to follow Ebony's car.

Cutting back to the hospital, the doctors announce that Charmy is in recovery. Mighty and Vector then realize that Espio is not there. Shortly after, Espio reveals himself, and the Chaotix sans Charmy head out to help Julie-Su and Remington, who are currently breaking into a chemical plant where Ebony is conducting his business, telling his workers to shut down production of the "secret sauce" containing the lemon sundrop dandelion.

When it occurs to Ebony that somebody is watching them, one of his thugs, Blackjack, searches the premises. Remington waits behind a stack of boxes, and to no avail, tries to slam a block of wood into Blackjack's head. Ebony shoots around the building, and when Julie-Su reveals herself, he is surprised to see that she is still alive, but soon has his gun pointed at her.

Just in time before Ebony shoots, Espio, currently invisible, knocks the gun away. While he is distracted, Julie-Su delivers a punch straight to Ebony's face. Similarly, Blackjack is about to lay a beating on Remington, but Mighty attacks Blackjack before he can do that. Vector then subdues another of Ebony's goons, a female fox whose name is still unknown. The police soon show up at the scene and confiscate the sauce and arrest Ebony and his goons. More police then show up at Happyland Amusement Park and take away the sauce being used for chili dogs.

It then cuts to Locke and Sabre monitoring Knuckles. Knuckles is returning home from his dealings with an echidna tribe, and a cosmic portal of some sort appears before him. He goes in, well aware that this could be a bad idea.

As we return to the Chaotix, Charmy is now at full health and they are visiting Charmy's bee colony, of which he is the prince. Only moments after rejoining his family, he returns to Echidnaopolis to recover the body of his now deceased friend, Mello, as to give him a proper burial. He then returns to the Chaotix, saying that he will resume work tomorrow, but they tell him he should stick with his family. Accepting his responsibility as prince of the colony, this seems to be the last we'll see of Charmy.

Knuckles13to15

The combined three-part cover.

  • This issue's cover is the last part of a three-part image.
  • Charmy's affliction, Lemon Sundrop Dandelion, is a not-so subtle reference to the illegal drug LSD, also called "acid."
  • Starting with this issue, Charmy is absent from all issues of the Sonic the Hedgehog comic until Sonic the Hedgehog #125, only appearing in Sonic the Hedgehog #93 and #94 between these two issues.
  • In reprints of this issue, the streams of Charmy's blood originally seen on page 1 are edited out.
