Aqua Planet Zone (アクアプラネット・ゾーン[1],Akua Puranetto Zōn?) is the fifth Zone of Sonic Chaos. It is a planet found in a dimension different from Sonic's universe. In keeping with the other Zones of this game, Aqua Planet Zone consists of two standard Acts followed by a shorter, third Act which contains the boss.
Aqua Planet Zone is a water planet located in another dimension[1] that is full of submerged temple-like terrain. The planet's sky is covered in clouds, and numerous structures resembling oil rigs can be seen in the background of the stage.

True to its name, Aqua Planet contains water that slows the player down through much of the stage. There are also plenty of spear traps, much like Labyrinth Zone, this level's inspiration.
