— Amy, CoroCoro Comics Special stories.

Amy Rose (エミー・ローズ Emī Rōzu?) is one of the main characters in the Sonic the Hedgehog serialized manga published by Shogakukan. Amy is described as a sweet and innocent hedgehog, who lives in Hedgehog Town. She is always being taken by Anton Veruca to be forced to date him and kiss him at times. Amy is also the girlfriend of Nicky, who can transform into Sonic the Hedgehog when in danger or if Amy is taken from him.

Amy is an anthropomorphic hedgehog whose appearance differs depending on which manga edition she is printed in. In the Shogaku Ninensei stories, Amy is brown, has a long chignon on top of her head and a red bow. She wears a yellow long-sleeved shirt with an "E" printed on it, a green dress, and red and white sneakers.

In Bessatsu CoroCoro Comic Special stories, Amy's appearance is closer to her game counterpart. She has a small fringe on her forehead and head quills similar to Nicky and Sonic's. She also wears a headband, white gloves, and sneakers with shoelaces, tips and soles. Her appearance in the Shogaku Gonensei stories is identical to one in the CoroCoro Comics Specials.

Amy is very gentle and cheerful like her boyfriend Nicky. However, she is also sensitively weak, making it easy for her to get captured by Anton Veruca or get into dangerous situations. Amy is usually seen dreaming of Sonic the Hedgehog after she is saved by him or just sees him. Since Amy is unaware that her boyfriend is Sonic, Nicky is often jealous of himself because Amy is seen falling in love with him every time she spots him. Nevertheless, Amy still loves Nicky and Nicky is happy that Amy is safe thanks to Sonic.

Amy's first name is usually written in katakana as 「エミー」 (Emī), which is identical to her game counterpart; however in most stories by writer Sango Morimoto, her name is instead spelled as 「エイミー」 (Eimī). Additionally, the April 1992 issue of Shogaku Ninensei by Sango Morimoto introduces Amy wearing a sweater with an 'E', matching Nicky's 'N', Anton Veruca's 'AB', and (later) Anita's 'T'. Given her amiable personality and more supportive role in the series, her name was possibly intended to be a closer approximation of the Japanese word meaning smile (笑み emi?) rather than a deliberate transliteration of the English name Amy.

In at least one late story (specifically the April 1994 issue of Bessatsu CoroCoro Special, by Koichi Tanaka), her full name is given as Amy Rose (エミー ローズ Emī Rōzu?).
