Amy Palant is an American voice actress and singer formerly associated with 4Kids Entertainment who has done voice work for the English dub of the Sonic X anime series and the Sonic the Hedgehog series.

Palant studied voice acting at Edge Studio under founder David Goldberg. She worked with the studio as a performer and a voice coach up until the early 2010's.[1]

As a singer, Palant has performed with numerous bands. In 2001, she was the lead vocalist and producer of the children’s band FunkeyMonkeys self-titled debut album and also sang some songs in the Girls Scouts album, Sisters Hand in Hand, which was also produced by the band. She was a founding member of the New York-based Alternate Folk band Bombshell, formed in 2005. She left the band in 2006.

In addition to her voice work, Palant is a child psychotherapist, and operates a practice in New York.

In 2008, Palant left 4Kids to work for Pokémon USA for the Battle Dimension anime.

In 2010, she was replaced by Kate Higgins as Tails' voice.

  • Magical DoReMi - Dorie Goodwyn
  • Mew Mew Power - Cassandra
  • Pokémon - Additional voices (seasons 5-7; season 11)

Voice acting

Palant had received mixed reviews for her performance as Tails. She had been criticized for making Tails sound girlish, but was highly praised for sounding more intelligent, cute and more like an 8-year-old. As the games progressed, many fans saw major improvement in Palant's voice acting, mostly in Sonic Unleashed, where many fans claimed that Palant finally perfected the role and was sounding more boyish. Though some fans praise her replacement, Kate Higgins, other fans still prefer Palant's role as Tails.

  • Orginally, Palant was going to be the voice of Chip in Sonic Unleashed, as evidenced in an early 3D test cutscene. In the final game however, she was replaced by Tony Salerno for unknown reasons. [2]

I've found a WIP (literally the base 3D blocking) version of the Sonic Unleashed cutscene where Chip gets his name. Complete with a scratch track and Amy Palant (Tails) as *Whip*. So, should I put it uppppp? 👍"
