The Alpha Device is an object that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. It was a metallic-gold rod-shaped device designed to cyber-form the Miracle Planet and convert it into a power-source for the Metallix robots.

History

The Alpha Device was built by Grimer, who had been kidnapped by the Brotherhood of Metallix and force to create it against his will.[1]

Although the Alpha Device was capable of transforming the entire Miracle Planet, it first had to be charged by absorbing energy from the Metallix robots themselves.[2] When planted in the ground, it quickly sent out metallic tendrils across the ground, and warped the planet's soil into metal. The Freedom Fighters attempted to prevent the transformation. Porker Lewis explained that the energy readings were so high that simply removing it might cause it to explode, taking the whole planet with it. The Alpha Device's operating system was also booby-trapped. Nevertheless, Porker managed to rig it to discharge its energy into the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the Emperor Metallix reactivated the device, again putting it to its original purpose.[3]

Within a month, the Alpha Device transformed the Miracle Planet into a gigantic Metallix head with thousands of Metallix factories.[4] The Alpha Device itself grew to the size of a skyscraper until Amy hooked the Kintobor Computer into it and deactivated it, restoring the Miracle Planet to normal.[5]
