"All Hail Shadow" is one of Shadow the Hedgehog's theme songs. It first appeared as the Pure Hero ending theme of Shadow the Hedgehog, where it was performed by Magna-Fi. The following year, it was remixed by Crush 40 for Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).

Legacy[]

The song made subsequent appearances in the form of both original and remixes by Crush 40 and Magna-Fi and used as Shadow's theme in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), with additional renditions appearing in Sonic and the Black Knight when the Medal of Lancelot item is equipped. It also appears in the console/PC version of Sonic Generations where it played during the rival battle against Shadow when Shadow collects two Energy Cores (three in hard mode). Additionally, a "hybrid mix" (featuring the music of the Crush 40 version and the vocals of the Magna-Fi version) was included on the album True Colors: The Best of Sonic the Hedgehog Part 2.

The Crush 40 version of the song is featured briefly in Sonic Forces when Shadow confronted and defeated his Phantom Copy counterpart. In Team Sonic Racing, this song is used as Shadow's theme whenever he uses his Team Ultimate.

In Shadow Generations, an instrumental remix of the song is used for Shadow's version of White Space. An orchestral remix of the Crush 40 cover, labelled Symphonic ver., is also used for the second phase of the Devil Doom boss fight, after Black Doom transforms into Neo Devil Doom. Additionally, both the Magna-Fi and Crush 40 versions of the song are included in the Digital Deluxe version and can be played in any of the stages.

The Crush 40 version of the song briefly plays in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds when Shadow is the winner in a Grand Prix.

Trivia[]

  • "All Hail Shadow" returns as Shadow the Hedgehog's main theme in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) in Shadow's story, performed by Crush 40. At the end of the cutscenes "Mephiles' Whisper" and "Showdown with Mephiles", the tune of "All Hail Shadow" can be heard.
    • The theme can also be heard in Sonic Forces, where a brief portion plays during the cutscene where the real Shadow defeats a Phantom Copy of himself created by Infinite.
  • "All Hail Shadow" was written as a replacement for "Who I Am", which never made it into the game due to Jun Senoue wanting to write a song with the band as him and Mike Szuter were friends.
  • The largest difference between the Crush 40 and Magna-Fi version of "All Hail Shadow" is that there is a ten second opening guitar solo in the Crush 40 variant where as Magna-Fi's immediately starts with vocals.
  • The tune of "I Am... All of Me" can be heard in the Crush 40 version.
  • A remixed version of this song appears in Team Sonic Racing as Shadow's Team Ultimate theme.
    • This remixed version is also played in a scene from Team Sonic Racing Overdrive in which Shadow passes both Rouge and Omega by without offering help.
  • A short remixed version of this song plays in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds when Shadow wins a Grand Prix.
  • The Magna-Fi version appeared during a collaboration event in Asphalt Legends Unite for the Racing Around the World campaign, where the song was edited to include a guitar opening, similar to the Crush 40 version.
  • The Shadow Generations version reuses the Crush 40 vocals, which can be interpreted as Shadow remaining the same in terms of behaviour, but the Sonic Symphony instrumental makes it seem grander like he knows who he truly is.
