For the skill, see Air Trap.

The Air Trap[1] is a mechanic that appears in Sonic Battle. It is a category of skill-based moves that the playable characters use to determine their Mine for Air Attacks.

Air Traps are techniques that determine the Mine the character deploys for their Air Attack. These moves involve the user dropping a Mine on the Map from midair that will detonate and deal damage to the opponent when they make contact with it. Each individual Air Trap is performed in its own unique way.

In order to use the Air Trap in gameplay, the player must select it before a battle starts or during an intermission. Also, in addition to inflicting normal damage on opponents, the Air Traps can be powered up further; when the Ichikoro Gauge is full, attacks from the Air Trap category will be able to instantly knock out the opponent, unless the opponent blocks it or is immune to Air Traps.

While all Air Traps are the same in function, each one has its own strengths and weaknesses that are determined by two attributes: speed and power. A few even have different mechanics; some Air Traps let the user deploy multiple Mines at once and others can deploy Mines that move around on their own. There are also those that can deploy invisible Mines.

To perform a character's Air Trap in gameplay, the player has to press Rgba.png while in midair.
