The Air Target[1] is a gimmick that appears in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. They are floating orbs that Sonic the Hedgehog can use to traverse the levels in the game.

The Air Targets are presented as floating blue metallic orbs with glowing light blue stripes.

The Air Targets' function is to provide "stepping stones" for Sonic to traverse the environments in the levels using his specific character abilities. When using the Air Target, Sonic targets it with a Homing Attack and homes onto it. This way, the Air Targets create a distant lock-on target for Sonic to home onto, allowing the player to reach out-of-reach areas and cross obstacles and gaps that the player cannot otherwise overcome. Air Targets can also appear in lines, allowing for a chain of midair dashes to cross wider gaps. Sometimes, Air Targets can also contain Rings that can be collected when hit.

To use the Air Target in gameplay, the player has to tap Snnwiidsxbuttondisco.png on the Wii U GamePad when in the air when near an Air Target.
