Template:Item The Accelerator Gun[1] is a gimmick that appears in Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors. It is a midair shooter which the player can control the direction of.

Description

The Accelerator Gun consists of two disks, each with a red edge on one side and a mark on the middle, which float parallel to each other. These disks each have a oblong rectangle sticking out from their sides that glow light blue and are synchronized with each other.

In gameplay, the player can jump in between the two disks of the Accelerator Gun which will suspend Sonic between them while spinning. The player can then shoot Sonic though midair in the direction of their oblong rectangle. Additionally, depending on the player's controls between games, the player can choose between the directions up, down, or forward to shoot Sonic in.

Sonic Unleashed

In Sonic Unleashed, every Accelerator Gun is marked with a specific button which the player has to press the correct button that is the same as marked in the Gun to use the gimmick in the correct way, but note that not all the marked buttons on the gimmicks are true as the player can also use another buttons to achieve shortcut ways. There are three types of Accelerator Gun:

  1. One which marked with XboxA/Template:X Buttonwhich the player has to press the Jump Button on the Controller to make the gimmick launch the player up
  2. One which is marked with the XboxX/Square button which will launch the player straight when pressed the button on the controller
  3. One which is marked with the XboxB/Circle button which will launch the player down when pressed the button on the controller (which is the same thing when the player did not press any button).

Note that the player has to press the needed button before the green gauge that surrounds it complete or the player will fall.

In the PS2/Wii version, it has the same appearance, however it will be marked with exclamation mark instead and the needed button to be pressed will appear on the screen.

It has technically the same appearance, however the player has to use the Control Stick to determine the needed direction and the Snnwii2buttondisco/A Button GameCube v2/a button to launch by the Accelerator Gun. Unlike Sonic Unleashed, it appeared in both 2D and 3D Sections and in the Wii Version only.
