Plot[]

In the living room of the Wachowski House, Sonic explains to Tails and Knuckles that since this is their first holiday together, he's gonna teach them how to do it right. He explains that there are the lights and the Christmas sweaters, which Sonic refers to as "ugly sweaters". Team Sonic, all now wearing Christmas sweaters, compliment them; Tails says that his sweater looks cool, while Knuckles says his sweater looks disgusting. Sonic explains that those aren't the only things so special about Christmas, and that the most important part of Christmas is Santa Claus. Knuckles says that he is familiar with Santa, whom he refers to as "Mr. Santana", but Sonic corrects him, saying that it's Santa. Soon, Sonic proceeds to explain about how awesome Santa is, and also claims that Santa is the only person on Earth almost as fast as him. Tails questions how Santa is almost as him, and Sonic decides that it's best to ask him.

Meanwhile, Santa is getting his sleigh ready to deliver his presents all around the world. He wonders where he put his keys, but suddenly, a Ring opens in front of him, and he falls through it. He ends up finding himself in the living room of the Wachowski House, but he gets hurt in the process. Sonic, concerned about Santa, runs up to him, asking if he is okay, but also asks if he can get a photo with Santa. Soon, Santa gets up and proclaims that he ended up hurting his ankle, and he's worried that he won't be able to deliver all his presents in time. Knuckles tells him not to worry, as he will alert everyone that Christmas is cancelled. However, Sonic doesn't like this idea, and explains that there has to be another way. Santa thinks that if there was someone almost as fast as him, and that person had help from a team, then maybe there could still be a chance that all the presents can be delivered in time. Sonic, smiling, says that Team Sonic will save Christmas.

As Team Sonic embark on their journey to deliver the Christmas presents, Knuckles guides the sleigh, while Sonic and Tails are in charge of delivering the presents to everyone. Slowly but surely, they begin to make progress. Sonic looks at the "Naughty or Nice" list, and sees the names of Robotnik and his grandpa on the list. He claims that they are definitely on the naughty list, and as a result, he decides to give them coal for Christmas. Team Sonic continue to travel around the world delivering all the presents.

After they have completed their duty, they return back to the living room of the Wachowski House, meeting up with Santa again, who can be seen sitting on the living room's sofa. They tell Santa that they managed to deliver all the presents in time, but Santa tells them that they forgot the most important gift. Team Sonic rush over to the Christmas tree, wondering what the "most important gift" is supposed to be, and Santa explains that it is the gift of knowing they are part of a family. Team Sonic all look at a picture frame of them together with Tom and Maddie. Sonic and Tails, hearts warmed by Santa's kind words, thank him, and Sonic decides that it's time for Santa to head home.

Soon, the trio guides Santa back home to the North Pole by transporting him through a Ring, but as soon as they step out of the Ring, they see something in the distance. Shadow can be seen attaching Santa's sleigh to the back of the Dark Rider. Santa questions what he is doing, and Shadow, hopping onto the Dark Rider, tells Santa that he chose the wrong hedgehog, which is Sonic, because unlike Shadow, he can't teleport. Shadow rides away on the Dark Rider with Santa's sleigh following closely behind it, and Santa, disappointed by what just happened, questions why Shadow had to steal his sleigh. Sonic says that he feels like Shadow is gonna be a problem.

In a post-credits scene, Santa is seen sitting on the sofa in the living room of the Wachowski House. He eats a chili dog, but notices that a stain left by the chili dog got stuck on his beard. He uses one of the sofa's pillows to wipe it away, before eating the rest of the chili dog. Santa places the pillow in a way so that the stain isn't facing the viewer, and he decides to sit back and relax.

Trivia[]

  • This is the sixth animated Sonic Christmas special, after Sonic Christmas Blast, From: A. Rose, Chao In Space, An Eggman Carol and TailsTube #6 (Surprise Gift Exchange Bonanza).
  • This is the second Sonic media to feature stop-motion animation, after Papercraft Mania Adventures.
  • The short was animated by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, who are best known for Robot Chicken, where a few sketches based on the Sonic the Hedgehog series were produced within the show.
  • Since Sonic knows that Gerald and Ivo Robotnik are on the naughty list, it can be implied that this short film is set sometime after the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. However, the short film is actually revealed to be non-canon, following the release of the third film. In the short film, Sonic knows that Gerald and Ivo are on the naughty list, and he, Tails, and Knuckles meet Shadow at the North Pole. But in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Gerald is killed during the film's climax, Ivo presumably sacrifices himself, and Team Sonic is unaware that Shadow is still alive.
  • This is the second short film where Dr. Robotnik doesn't appear, despite being mentioned. The first being Sonic Drone Home.
  • Even though his character, Wade, didn't make an appearance, Adam Pally voiced Santa Claus. In fact, this is the first and only time Adam Pally voiced a different character instead of Wade.
