— In-Game Description, Sonic Frontiers[1]

A Grave Mystery[1] is an Island Mystery in Sonic Frontiers. It is the second one on Kronos Island, as well the second one overall. Its goal is to use the black tombstones to reflect the beam light into the right target.

Description[]

A grave mystery takes place in the north west areas of Kronos Island, on the left side of the river that originates from the giant waterfall. The area is mainly covered by gray, mossy tombstones. Among those are also located 4 black tombstones, which emit a beam of light, as well a statue in the middle. There are also dirt trails on the ground which indicate the direction the beam of light has to go towards.

As Sonic Frontiers has a day-night cycle, some background elements might differ from player to player.

Story[]

Following the loss of the Koco befriended on Kronos Island, Amy and Sonic decide to split up. As the former was mourning its death, she discovers that a previously locked region was unlocked, thus alerting Sonic. While Sage advised him that the puzzle was too hard for his "modern understanding" to understand, he still tries, hoping it will reveal a path to Giganto.

Gameplay[]

In order to start A Grave Mystery, the player will have to approach one of the 4 black tombstones and interact with it, which will make the player to be able to view the entire area from the top. In this mode, the player will be able to switch between the four tombstones and select them using Square/X button. Selecting one will also take control of another tombstone nearby.

The black tombstones can be controlled with Left-Analog-Stick in order to redirect the light beams. Once all light beams follow the dirt trail on the ground and is reflected into the statue in the middle, the Island Mystery will end, while a statue will appear on the top of the waterfall.
