4-I shares the basic Cyber Space theme along other stages, while presenting floating city locations strongly resembling Skyscraper Scamper from Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version of Sonic Unleashed and Speed Highway from console/PC version of Sonic Generations. As such, there are many streets and buildings present in the distance. The streets are layered with various signs as well as traffic signals, while the background consist of fast moving roads complementing the sky blue background with rapid, laser-like sparks also bypassing the screen to represent the digitized atmosphere of the stage.
Portal location[]
The entrance Portal to the Cyber Space stage is located in the north-east corner of Ouranos Island, situated along the western side of the smaller island, directly behind a Hermit Koco that Amy visits. It requires one Portal Gear for this Portal to connect to Cyber Space.
Gameplay[]
4-I is a relatively straightforward level with several branching paths made up of floating platforms. Throughout the level is an excessive amount of cars with serve as obstacles, background scenery, and platforming elements that can be bounced off of. Unique to this level is the fact that, unlike most remix stages, which follow the general path of their original level, 4-I is structured backwards, therefore making this level an uphill climb as opposed to a downhill one. Also unique to 4-I is that gravity of the stage is lowered, thus allowing Sonic to float through the air for much longer and reach greater heights, although his descent speed is extremely slow. There are no Star Posts present in this stage.
After the second cannon, the player must follow the path until Sonic reaches an area with platforms surrounded by intersecting rings of cars.
Number Ring 5 can be found on the bottom left-hand platform.
Number Ring 4 can be found on the bottom right-hand platform.
Number Ring 3 can be found on the top left-hand platform.
Number Ring 2 can be found back on the middle right platform.
Number Ring 1 can be found at the top center platform.
Silver Moon Rings[]
When the player arrives to an area with rails, platforms, and cars near the end of the stage, they can find the first Silver Moon Ring along the rail in the middle. The player should jump to the right and ride that rail to collect the next two, before jumping off of it into the fourth ring. The final ring can be found on the ramps immediately following the fourth one.
Animals[]
After taking the first cannon upwards, the player should take the right side of the path to an area of floating platforms. On the second platform, a Pecky will be waiting. The cars will force Sonic to drop the animal, so the player must take the small side platforms on the right hand side to reach the drop-off zone at the end of the path, in front of a series of ramps.
Below the second cannon is an area filled with cars, where a Flicky is waiting. Jump to avoid the cars or destroy them before-hand, and the drop-off zone is at the top of the uphill path, on platform to the left.
Following the path after the second animal, a Cucky can be found under an roofed area going downhill. Follow the path, while avoiding the cars, and run into the dash panel, which will launch Sonic over the cars, where the drop-off zone awaits at the top.
Hidden Goal[]
Upon reaching the Portal Gate's platform, the player should avoid it and instead go around it to another series of platforms, which end at a large cylinder of cars, where the hidden goal awaits.
Trivia[]
The stage's low gravity may be a reference to a common speedrunning trick used during 1-7, where a runner can Homing Dash or Spin Dash from a high point in the stage down to the ending of the stage, thus flying over it.
