Portal 4-A or just 4-A, is a Cyber Space stage in Sonic Frontiers. It is the first Cyber Space stage in Ouranos Island during Another Story, and the thirty-first one overall. It is a remix of 1-4.

Description[]

4-A shares the basic Cyber Space theme along with other stages, while presenting floating chunks of islands based on Green Hill Zone, specifically taken from the specific depiction from the console/PC version of Sonic Generations. The majority of background islands contain bushes, flowers and palm trees adorning them, along with wooden fences, blue rocky blocks and totem poles of various types and sizes. As such, all chunks of floating islands have brown checker patterned soils with light green grass. The terrain often contains familiar elements such as giant loops and corkscrews. Many half-pipelines and chunks of cubes are seen in far distance of the sunset background with rapid, blue digitized sparks bypassing the screen to represent the digitized atmosphere of the stage.

Portal location[]

The entrance Portal to the Cyber Space stage is located to the far south-west of Ouranos Island, in a small collection of houses near the Yellow Chaos Emerald Vault. It requires three Portal Gears for this Portal to connect to Cyber Space.

Gameplay[]

4-A is a relatively straightforward stage with a small handful of branching paths that lead to the same point. There are many hexagon shaped structures to jump around on and through, and this stage is the first one to feature the Rocket Boost gimmick, which is gained by hitting the small green contains on the stage. There are no Star Posts present in this stage.

Collectable locations[]

Number Rings[]

Visible on the beaten path, in a section where Sonic has to climb the side of a vertical hive-shaped structure on wooden platforms.

Silver Moon Rings[]

Visible on the beaten path, in a section where Sonic has to Rocket Boost on a forked road made of falling platforms. Both paths converge at the end of the road, but the rings are on the path on the right.

Animals[]

- After an automatic turn with a series of Boost Pads near the beginning, Sonic will find himself in the air. The first animal is in the lower path right after that section, and it can be seen by stomping after the camera shifts downwards, with the drop off zone being reached by climbing around the platforms ahead.

- Around the middle of the level, a bit after the Number Rings, the player will see a cliff with a row of Rocket Boost containers suspended in the air. The second animal can be found by jumping down the cliff into a lower path, with the drop off zone being reached by continuing down the path suspended over a pit.

- The third animal is on a platform to the right visible as the player enters the large vertical hive-shaped structure towards the end of the level, with the drop off zone being in the center of the structure, accessed by going around it and entering from the front.

Hidden Goal[]

-After the third animal, there will be a series of springs leading to an upper part of the hive-shaped structure. By climbing some platforms to the right, the player will find a path that leads higher, and ends with a series of rows of suspended Rocket Boost containers with the goal at the end.

Trivia[]

  • The hexagon shaped structures, Green Hill aesthetics, the Rocket Boost, and the fact that all enemies within the level are bee-shaped could indicate that this level is a reference to Zone 2 of Desert Ruins from Sonic Lost World.
