Portal 4-6 or just 4-6, is a Cyber Space stage in Sonic Frontiers. It is the sixth Cyber Space stage in Ouranos Island, and the twenty-seventh one overall.

Description[]

Main article: Chemical Plant

4-6 features the Cyber Space setting with stage aesthetics based on the specific depiction of Chemical Plant Zone present in the console/PC version of Sonic Generations. Here though, the background features a interior section of the factory building.

Portal location[]

In Ouranos Island, the entrance Portal to the Cyber Space stage is located just to the north-west of another Portal leading to 4-8. A single Portal Gear is required to be used for gaining connection to the Cyber Space.

Gameplay[]

The level is entirely a 2.5D side-scroller, and is similar in style to the Chemical Plant-type stages. Gimmicks range from disintegrating platforms, high-speed warp tubes, blue blobs - with some horizontal as well as vertical terminals, Jump Panel, Spring Poles, Egg Springs and square staircase blocks. Switches, which are usually attached to walls, would typically move some of the floating platforms and square staircase blocks.

Overview[]

The level starts with a quarter-slant. The player has a choice of taking the floating platforms up high, leading to the top road, or continue straight on. Either way, the roads corkscrew. Taking the high road, defeat the Grabber, but watch out for the Egg Spring, as it will drag the player into the chemical trap - If the terminal flashes magenta it indicates a warning that harmful blue blobs will be deployed shortly. Go through the tunnel of chemicals, then escalate down the Dash Panels, jumping over the gap as soon as the road flattens. Defeat the Spiny and flick the Star Post.

Along the low road and past the two 3/4 loops, the player has the option to bounce off the yellow spring to the left, or jump over it to the right. Heading left, the quarter-slant marks the next blue blobs. Take the High-speed warp tube on the left corner. At the end, take the Dash Panel in between the next string of blue blobs and boost through the Jump Panels. Otherwise Sonic would be heading for the lower Star Post.

If the player jumps over the spring, mind the blue blobs and defeat the Spiny. Hit the switch to move the staircase, followed by the next one further above, leading to the lower Star Post.

If on the higher Star Post, boost down the long ramp, leading to the Spring Pole and a few Spinys to defeat. Jump over the gap, then take the floating platforms up to the wall on the left, leading to some disintegrating platforms above a spike pit. Take the spring of the left to escape. Jump over the gaps towards the last upper Star Post. Sonic will descend down a series of Dash Panels. When he drops down, jump over the gap on the right* and run past the disintegrating platforms, hitting the springs. Hit the switch on the right to move the platform, then take the spring. The process then alternates between moving platforms and springs until they make it to the top. Once past the double 3/4 loop, jump over the gap, hitting the Rainbow Ring leading to the Portal Gate.

If on the lower Star Post, navigate through the landscape. Once inside the area with the disintegrating platforms, stomp on the right hand side to defeat a Spiny which would otherwise catch the unwary. He'll soon land on a floating platform. Mind the chemical trap and defeat the next Spiny. Go up the yellow blocks, being wary of the blue blobs. Take the high-speed warp tube, which eventually leads to another Star Post. While (*If) Sonic falls, hit the switch on the right, followed by another to the left. Once past the ramp, take the yellow blocks. If he falls mind the Spiny in the pit. Defeat the Badniks and then boost up the left dash panel: Sonic will be running upside-down over a long spike pit. A spring at the end of the rail takes him to the switch, raising the platform allowing him to reach the Portal Gate.

Red Star Ring locations[]

  • On the lower route, the player has to jump over the leftwards yellow Spring after going through the double 3/4 loops to obtain the first Red Star Ring.
  • From the lower route, taking the yellow Spring to the left will lead to the high-speed warp tube. After taking the Dash Panel in between the chemical trap, the second Red Star Ring is located past the second Jump Panel.
  • Continuing from the previous point, the Star Post should be reachable. The third Red Star Ring is along this path after going down the long slide.
  • The player can continue along the high route after receiving the third Red Star Ring. The fourth Red Star Ring is over a gap after touching the red horizontal Spring, before some disintegrating platforms.
  • Continuing from there, the last Red Star Ring is placed over a gap past the Rainbow Ring. Otherwise, after going up an ascending floating platform, the last Red Star Ring is directly visible above it.
