4-2 shares the basic Cyber Space theme along other stages, while presenting floating city locations strongly resembling Skyscraper Scamper from Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version of Sonic Unleashed and Speed Highway from console/PC version of Sonic Generations. As such, there are many streets and buildings present in the distance. The streets are layered with various signs as well as traffic signals, while the background consist of fast moving roads complementing the sky blue background with rapid, laser-like sparks also bypassing the screen to represent the digitized atmosphere of the stage.
Portal location[]
In Ouranos Island, the entrance Portal to the Cyber Space stage is located west of the large hill in the far eastern part of the main island. It requires one Portal Gear to access.
Gameplay[]
The player will need to experiment with different routes in order to pull off an S-Rank here. Obstacles and gimmicks include platforms moving side-to-side, rails (with some spiked) and 3/4 loops leading to vertical roads. White Dash Panels are also present, but only during auto-running segments. The traffic vehicles can only be destroyed with a boost or a spin attack.
Overview[]
The level starts with a short cutscene of Sonic breaking through the barriers. The jump panel leads to some banked roads with drops on the edges. After the right bend is a Dash Ring on the outside, allowing the player to skip a part of the layout. Taking the road, they will encounter some moving platforms, scattered with balloons and springs, followed by a similar scenario but a different layout. Going left up the second group of moving platforms will take the player to the top of the tunnel. Scale the next set of platforms to reach the Dash Ring, in which a group of them lead to some Grind Rails. At the end is a long auto-running segment which leads to the Star Post.
If Sonic takes the Dash Ring, he'll come across a series of long roads mixed with moving platforms. Sonic will eventually come across a rail. Mind as soon as you jump from rail to rail, because a Dash Panel is quickly followed by some spikes, prompting the player to jump and hit the Dash Ring. Jump over the next spikes and into the Dash Ring, leading to the auto-running segment which takes Sonic to the Star Post.
If the player happens to go through the tunnel they'll be taken to a separate section leading to a different Star Post found inside the tunnel. There will be another section of moving platforms, but with balloons to the left, which leads to some springs towards a higher platform. Some enemies will then appear in a line. Homing Attack them all to reach the Zip Line on the far left. Alternately go forwards and find the Dash Ring, which will take them to the rails as described earlier. After taking the Zip Line, defeat the next group of enemies then take the spring on the right which guides to a set of springs towards the auto-running segment and the Star Post.
Past the Star Post, there will be another long road filled with parked cars, followed by another moving platforms segment with some balloons. Inside the wooden container on the far left is a Super Ring. Take the springs on floating platforms which lead to the Portal Gear.
