4-1 shares the basic Cyber Space theme along other stages, while presenting floating locations resembling the specific depiction of Chemical Plant from the console/PC version of Sonic Generations. As such, there are tons of mechanical buildings and tubes throughout the setting with rapid, blue digitized sparks bypassing the screen to represent the digitized atmosphere of the stage.
Portal location[]
In Ouranos Island, the entrance Portal to the Cyber Space stage is located at the northern cape in the far east of the main island. One Portal Gear is required to access this portal.
Gameplay[]
The level in entirely 3D, with various gameplay elements depending on the path taken, such as platforming, drifting and boarding. There are hang gliders, cannons from Sonic Heroes and disintegrating platforms, some at various levels. The drift roads have bombs blocking parts of the road. Sonic will not bounce back but will take damage from these bombs. Some Eggrobos fire lasers in five different directions. Near the end of the level Sonic will be boarding down a narrow, twisty road.
Overview[]
Sonic starts on a fast section which eventually leads to a trail of rings in mid-air. After the loop that leads to the jump panel, the player can opt to take a higher route which takes a shortcut to the first Star Post. To do this, jump up before he touches the Dash Panel and use the Homing Attack on the Eggrobo and the balloons. They lead to a spring where the player can Light Speed Dash this ring trail completing the shortcut. Otherwise, the processes are similar with the lower route.
After the first Star Post, the player can choose to go left or right. The left has a Wide Spring hidden behind some breakable containers next to the wall leading to the Eggrobo, and another two ring trails, while the right has disintegrating platforms and a Drift Zone, where bombs can be dodged by side-stepping. The spring leads to a series of disintegrating blocks; remember that they only trigger when Sonic lands on them, so Double Jumping while moving can help him to save time. Sonic will be going across another fast section which leads to a wide spring marking the next obstacle: An airborne Ring Trail up high, and some disintegrating platforms below. Take the ring trail, which brings him towards and up the pulley, where he'll encounter an Eggrobo. The next pulley leads to another fast section. After the right hand turn, the player will come across more blocks - which disintegrate individually and after around one second - followed by a trail of Eggrobos which lead to the second Star Post and a Hang Glider.
Sonic must keep running along some disintegrating bridges without stopping. It leads to an upward ramp and a Spring, where they must immediately Homing Attack the balloon to ensure a safe landing. Homing Attack more balloons followed by the Buzzer guarding the platform with the Dash Panel. This lead to the spring which takes Sonic inside the cannon. After being launched, Sonic will be boarding down a narrow road which eventually leads to the Portal Gate.
Past the checkpoint, take the green balloons on the left. The first Red Star Ring is on top of one of them.

The fourth Red Star Ring can be found via the 'square-ring' section and featuring a series of disintegrating bridges. After doing the Homing Attack on some balloons and the Buzzer, go through the dash panel as normal, but jump over the spring instead and do a Light Speed Dash along the trail of rings. This ring is along this trail.
Along the boarding road, the fifth Red Star Ring is in the middle of a right bend.
