Portal 3-6 or just 3-6, is a Cyber Spacestage in Sonic Frontiers. It is the sixth Cyber Space stage in Chaos Island, and the twentieth one overall. It is one of the longest and most difficult stages in the game.
3-6 is Cyber Space stage inspired by Sky Sanctuary, based on the specific depiction from the console/PC version of Sonic Generations. Having similar aestetic elements seen in previous Cyber Space stages, it is a rather incomplete, fragmented incarnation of the Sky Sanctuary location set in the daytime.
Portal location[]
In Chaos Island, the entrance Portal to the Cyber Space stage is located at the far northwest of the main island, on its northern coast. 2 Portal Gears are needed to access this Portal.
Gameplay[]
The gameplay is taken from a 2.5D perspective, mostly with the camera at a slight angle allowing the player more room to look ahead, but there are sections, where the camera is perpendicular to the player's view. There are long gaps with iron balls the most notable obstacles, with the last one moving from side-to-side along a platform. Others include balloons, Pullies, trails of Rings, Accelerator Guns, Rainbow Rings, Spring Poles and moving or disintegrating platforms.
Overview[]
Because this stage has several gaps and platforms at various heights, timing is crucial, especially when popping balloons with a Homing Attack, as a missing one balloon could end up with Sonic hitting the obstructing platform or the iron ball. The stage consits of one notable section where the balloons are arranged so close together to the iron balls, that in some cases a Homing Attack is not always necessary; similar to the last section where these are merged with Rainbow Rings. Accelerator Guns, depending on the section, will vary between showing the correct button on the screen, and manual configuration, in which the latter typically displays the analog stick but will point in a direction regardless.
In the section with multiple moving platforms, the player has to wait until the moving platform reaches the top to minimize risk of falling into the abyss. One of the later sections will have Sonic hopping on Rainbow Rings. Use the left stick to control Sonic's fall to guide him to the next Ring, and mind the iron balls. At the last section, some of the iron balls move, so you can use Double Jump to stay airborne for longer if needed. Past the last airborne section, be careful while you land on the disintegrating platform, as there is a moving iron ball patrolling from end to end that can catch out the unwary.
The first Red Star Ring is located atop the platform with the chain.
After the first Red Star Ring, the second one is found on a set of moving platforms up high.
The third Red Star Ring requires the player of excecuting a well-timed Light Dash on a trail of Rings between two iron balls, particularly as there is nothing to land on.
The fourth Red Star Ring is found on the platform between the airborne section containing the balloons, iron ball and Rainbow Ring.
The fifth Red Star Ring is located before the last Rainbow Ring leading to the Portal Gate.
