2-5 is a location in Cyber Space inspired by Sky Sanctuary, based on the specific depiction from the console/PC version of Sonic Generations. Being a part of the Cyber Space realm, it is a rather incomplete, fragmented incarnation of the Sky Sanctuary location set in the middle of sunset, with indigo lasers passing through the background to create a feel for the digitized atmosphere.
Portal location[]
The entrance Portal to the Cyber Space stage is located at the far west of Ares Island, on the coast southwest of the Strider. Exceptionally, two Portal Gears are required to have the Portal make connection to the Cyber Space.
Gameplay[]
The gameplay is 2.5D, with a few auto-running segments where the camera may change direction. The obstacles Sonic will need to get past are Pole Elevators, some of them wider and/or faster than others, disintegrating roads and platforms; and bounce-able clouds. Some switches will open/close doors/bridges and activate moving platforms. While hanging on to the Pole elevators, Sonic can move to the left and right to adjust his position.
Overview[]
Sonic will jump on a Grind Rail towards a Spring which leads to the first section: Ascending up two Pole Elevators, one to the right and another to the left. When on the first Pole elevator, move to the left and jump when it's at its highest position. Similar for the other one, except it's to the right. Defeat the Eggrobos with a Homing Attack. To the right of the next Pole Elevator is a platform leading to the Dash Panel leading to be being bounced off by clouds below for preventing the player from doing so.
After the series of disintegrating floors, the road splits into two. The player may opt to take the double diagonal Springs or jump over them. If the springs are taken, jump onto the clouds and the balloons towards the pillar shaft where the next Star Post is. If the player chooses to jump over the Spring, jumping over the gap will lead to the Warp Point, leading to some disintegrating platforms, a Dash Ring, and a Star Post in a more favorable position.
If on the lower route, jump over the gap. The next pillar leads to a rail towards a road with a Dash Panel and a quarter slant. The player has to perform Boost, jump and then Stomp to land on the red platforms. Take them both along with the cloud to reach a higher route. Jump from platform to platform to make it atop this wall. The roads drop down where another Star Post can be triggered.
If on the higher route, don't jump yet, as Sonic will need to use the rail next to this platform. After the road turns to the left, prepare for an obstacle course of disintegrating platforms, balloons and Dash Rings, until Sonic reaches the next Star Post.
Boost along the rail to surpass the first gap with the Pole Elevator, then jump over the next one. The road meanders upwards, followed by a long gap which requires a Double Jump to reach. Take the spring and hop onto each cloud. There's a block on the left hand side with a small platform. Pressing the switch on the left side of this block will enclose the left edge and activate the platform and the Pole Elevator. Take them both towards a cloud on the left, which leads to another one on the right. Using Aerial Boost to leap the right, Sonic will hang on to the next Pole Elevator to reach the Portal Gate.
After defeating the two Eggrobos, the player has to use Boost at the highest jump point to reach atop the next wall. Past that is a big drop, which leads to the first Red Star Ring.
Past the Star Post, the player has to jump over the gap immediately after it to collect the second Red Star Ring.
The player has to take the highest route to find the third Red Star Ring past a gap with one of the Dash Rings.
After the switch is triggered, the platform will move out the way for the fourth Red Star Ring just to the right.
Take the moving platform to the Pole Elevators and the clouds. The last ring is below the second Pole Elevator, close to the Portal Gate.
