Though in all seriousness, I bet a villain could ultimately harm Sonic or his friends a lot through social propaganda, and money can definitely help that. But I don't know how well mind games like that and social prejudices would hold up in an interesting 'battle' way with Sonic.
I mean the concept is pretty cool to me, but if I think too long on it I think I'll just get a headache trying to think of ways any villain could actually use money aside from bribes and other nasty things.
Unless you're thinking of a "Tony Stark" situation, in which a villain just uses their money to make fun toys. That's not too different from the big E himself, though.
