Next year will be Sonic’s 30th anniversary, and just recently, SEGA has just announced that there will be multiple games coming out for that anniversary. A lot of people in the Sonic community, especially YouTubers, have voiced their opinions and concerns on the matter, some were optimistic and are excited, others are skeptical and cynical about it, especially since the last anniversary title was a disappointing one.
Now, don’t get any ideas, I’m staying positive about this as possible, despite the cynicism and doubts about the upcoming year.
As we’re all aware at this point, SEGA will only listen to video game critics, most of which have never even heard of Sonic, nor played his games, rather than their devoted fans, and that’s the main reason why Sonic is the way it is right now. It breaks my heart knowing that there is so much negativity in the Sonic fandom and SEGA is ignoring everything they got wrong in the blue hedgehog’s games. I love Sonic, his friends, and his franchise, and I don’t want him to fall.
Is SEGA listening to us when it comes to the series? Well… yes, and no. You see, there are a number of selected fans that only SEGA listens to, but most of them are not the right ones, and the most common of them can be found in the world’s most successful video website YouTube. But why, you may ask; why would SEGA listen to YouTubers? The answers quite simple, really; Arin Hanson, aka Egorapter of GameGrumps fame, has been invited by SEGA to their events, even though in his videos, Arin and whoever’s with him hosting an episode while playing a Sonic game would often make fun of Sonic, make him look bad at every opportunity that he gets, and yet, SEGA invited Arin to their events. It’s pretty clear that SEGA will only listen to whoever had the most views and subs and what-not regardless of what they’ve said about Sonic and his games series. Now don’t get me wrong though, I personally think that the GameGrumps, whom I’ve been since secondary school with my sister, are an amazing channel and are pretty funny, it’s just that the way the GameGrumps treat Sonic is hurting the blue guy’s image.
But, with this information, we have the solution to our problem; if SEGA will only listen to whoever had the most views and subs on YouTube, what if we get every or a few Sonictubers out there that do truly care about Sonic to a million subs in the same level as GameGrumps? Arin’s YouTube channel, GameGrumps, has 5.34m subscribers; that’s 5,340,000. That’s how powerful Arin really is. So, the goal is to get all the good Sonictubers (not that GameGrumps is a bad YouTube channel, there are some things that I and my sister enjoy from them) to the same level of views, subs, and most of all, a power so that Sega will notice them and start listening to them.
But I can’t do this alone, I need your help. I need your support. That’s why I ask that you; view, subscribe, and share with all your followers all these amazing Sonictubers, Sonic channels, and YouTubers that played Sonic’s games on their channels. Giving these people views, subs, and shares wouldn’t be enough, when spreading the word about them, we need to be positive about it, this means being nice to everyone, regardless of their opinion on every Sonic media.
Yes, together we can do this, together we can be strong, help those amazing people to get to around millions of subscribers, and together, we will win.
Here are the Sonictubers that deserve the most attention and the ones you should help get a million subs:
