So, when I first played Sonic 4 ep. II on my phone I was having trouble with the small controls that led me to believe that you weren’t able to walk left in this game. After re-downloading it I have seen that this is false, I have gotten further into the game and found that I quite enjoy it. In fact, I don’t see anything wrong with it! The levels are fun to blast through and are pretty original as well. Another thing I’d like to discuss is the homing attack. It doesn’t feel like an unnecessary addition, quite the opposite! The homing attack was integrated perfectly into the Zone layout, such as with the platforms in Sylvania castle that turn from vertical to horizontal if you homing attack them. It it also super satisfying to bounce off Badniks with it, such as the polar bear Badniks in white park that require multiple hits to defeat. The music, obviously, also knocks it out of the park. And I also need to mention the continuity. While Sonic 4 in general is set after the events of Sonic 3&K, Ep. II also ties into Sonic CD. At the start of the game, we see a cutscene where Eggman calls upon the broken down Metal Sonic who is still lying in Stardust Speedway after his defeat. This is probably also the true reason why Eggman used the Mechas in Sonic 2 and Sonic 3&K. Metal Sonic not only has a killer boss theme but even has his own playable storyline (Episode Metal) set between the two halves of the game. Yes, that’s right: you can play as Metal Sonic in this game. I also kind of have the feeling that 3&K is where the timeline splits. In the Modern universe it was followed by the events of Sonic 4 and in the classic universe it was followed by Sonic Mania.
Anyways, people who hate Sonic 4 ep. II, please explain why.
