The theme of Sonic is chaos, a series of outcomes based on randomness and the concept of improbabilities from effort. Looking at the IDW series as a whole, the entire thing is some sort of domino effect. Just one event leading up to another based on the heroes choices and experiences. Sonic setting Metal loose, the return of Eggman, the Zombots, Starline’s betrayal, the finding of Belle, the creation of Surge and Kit, the Diamond Cutters, Clean Sweep…etc. Personally, I’d go looking for the next piece. What future distance is being set up connected to everyone’s past action, besides from the secret villain from Issue 80 and the secrets of Lunar?

What will happen with Tangle and Whisper now that Mimic is gone? What are the Deadly Six’s plan for revenge? What’s the significance of the giant salamander in Issue 68? And most importantly, will anybody solve the mystery of Surge and Kitsunami’s past?

AND THEY HAD IDW COMICS!!

So, here's the thing:

When Belle was doing whatever she does, she came across Breezie, who, along with Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts, had escaped Scrapnik Island.

They all used to be Eggman's henchmen in the Classic era before they were presumably killed when the Death Egg crashed onto Angel Island.

After being taken by Belle and being repaired by Tails in his workshop, the Super Special Sonic Search and Smash Squad help Sonic and his friends now. While they do have a bit of a vendetta against him, they don't plan to kill him.

So yeah.

Here's why:

A surprisingly bold and innovative story

Representation that does the characters justice

An actually cleverly thought through case that makes you realize how impressive the Chaotix are and gets you hooked

A Dark Beginings style fight (I hope they keep doing this)

Actually great new characters (which are kinda reminiscent of Archie characters)

Surprisingly great humour

New nemesis for the Chaotix (SO AWESOME), who has an understandable backstory with them and great design and character

I was surprised at how great this was, I assumed it would just feel like a short sweet story since it was only 30 pages, but no, it actually was packed

My only problem is I worry for the future of the new characters, there is currently no IDW spinoff Series like Sonic Universe was for Archie, so while these characters might cameo in a future arc they'll spend far too much time collecting dust and even possibly might get handled poorly like some of the other villains just cuz there's nothing to do with them.

If IDW keeps storytelling like this up, I would love a Sonic Universe type series to get the characters the focus they deserve, I really do love these new guys but their future is looking uncertain.

Name the most iconic or prettiest zones from the sonic franchise. They could even be from the IDW comics. Zones like Green Hill, and others(nothing other than Green Hill came to my mind😭)

Each and every time I read a chapter of these guys, there is smth I always feel like commenting on, whether it's a character or just smth they said, lol.

And most of these the things I'm going to say would just be random stuff relating to the characters and smth they did in said chap. But a few of what I say are also questions, so that's like half the reason I'm making this post. I'll be posting the pages ofc with a comment below it :]

Bruh, Starline so lost😂😂. Did he actually use Sonic's DNA to create surge?

^^ I ask my question above bc as surge and kit find out, they're main purpose for everything they've done and been in life is to beat and replace sonic and tails, ad when they find out they are cyborgs, surge asks kit to research more on the computer(starline's files) to find out who they were before they got to starline. It kinda makes sense they didn't find anything, cuz it's seen in the page above that he has been brainwashing since childhood, so he most likely created them...? I man, he did use tails DNA for smth, we just dunno what he used for Surge, at least I dunno :/. Also, why so much sessions for surge? Does it take longer depending on what is been inculcated into the mind?

I was thinking about the Marvels zombies series and what it would be like if an Zombie apocalypse was in other universes like Sonic for example, and for some reason it just suddenly came to my head that we canonically do have a zombie apocalypse in Sonic😭 fr though, the concept of a zombie-like robot virus infecting Sonic characters is really cool because we’ve seen previous concepts of robotization but this time they are incorporating it in a way that no one would think to be incorporated in a series like this. When the audience is children, who would’ve thought we’d get zombies in Sonic? Zombies that can be impaled and shot and still keep moving.

The “zombot” apocalypse is a cool way for the series to stay true to itself but still make a very interesting story. It would be awesome if the Metal Virus could be turned into a halloween-special mini series or something.

For me, I’d have to say it was the year my family moved away to a new home, which was actually only a few years ago. That was the year where I was introduced to Sonic the Hedgehog.

I can vividly remember watching Adrenaline Dubs’ comic dubs of the IDW series just before we left our old house. And I also remember playing online emulators of various Sonic games on the laptop in the camp trailer we were staying in while our house was still in the process of being built; games like Sonic 1, Sonic 2, S3&K, Sonic CD, Doctor Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, Sonic Advance, Sonic Battle, and a few other ones were all ones I played.

It was only a few days before Christmas when we finally moved in, and I can definitely say that was the most memorable Christmases I’ve ever experienced.

I felt like I wanted to hear what people's opinions on certain storylines from the IDW comics were. Also please try to be positive on this post. Don't bash others opinions or be like "I hate all IDW storylines".

Anyways, my favorite storyline so far has to be Scrapnik Island. The designs for the Scrapniks are really good, the story is great and I really like Mecha Sonic's arc, and the artstyle is really nice. Definitely one of my favorite stories to come out of the comics.
