My Sonic timeline
Some games or media are not included due to not mattering and can be generally inferred where it takes place, for example; mobile games (Dash, Jump, SSS, Runners ect.), Sonic Café games and miscellaneous Sonic Channel artwork (Sonic PICT, monthly art, Calendar Comedy, Sonic Comic ect.). This timeline will also include non-canon theories, though borderline fan-fiction will be avoided.

Ancient Past (looong time ago)
⁃ (Unkown date) The Time of awakening happens on Earth. This time, Light Gaia successfully stops Dark Gaiafrom destroying all life on the planet, mainly consisting of prehistoric plants at the time. The Chaos Emeralds are then used to return the planet back to normal thanks to the Gaia Temples built an ancient civilisation who called Earth home millennia ago, though after this the Emeralds leave Earth and instead go to an unknown planet far off in the cosmos. The inhabitants of this world, the Ancientsuse the Chaos Emeralds to further their society for tens of thousands of years.*
⁃ (10000+ years ago) Ancients planet is destroyed by The End. Their ship, powered by the Chaos Emeralds, is attracted to Earth by the Master Emerald. They colonise the Starfall Islands on Earth and use the Chaos Emeralds to build Cyber Space, a digital dimension used to store the Ancients memories and ideas. They also build Guardians, the Titans, Chaos Emerald Vaults, Pinball and much more. Once The End attacks their new home the deity is sealed in Cyber Space by Crane in Supreme. With most of the Ancients wiped out they slowly colonised more areas of Earth like Angel Island. The Ancients later evolved into Chao. The deceased Ancients souls begin inhabiting their lucky charms inside their chests and become Koco.
⁃ (Unkown date) An unknown ancient civilisation creates the Reverie.
⁃ (4000+ years ago) The Fourth Great Civilization invents the Gizoids. Namely Emerl. Emerl then destroys the Fourth Great Civilisation.
⁃ (3000+ years ago↓) Civilisations form on obscure land masses including South Island, West Side Island, Mystic Ruins and Angel Island, the Northstar Islands, Little Planet, Cocoa Island, Flicky Island, Newtrogic High, Lost Hex, Seaside Hill and many more. Most of these use the Chaos Emeralds to further their civilisations and/or other mystical items.
⁃ Echidna’s begin inhabiting Mystic Ruins as well as a large region of it called Angel Island. They begin waging wars.
⁃ Babylonians crash lands on Earth on their advanced ship, Babylon Garden after disconnecting the Arks of the Cosmos, their main power source, after they malfunctioned and were about to create a black hole. They create the earliest form of Extreme Gear; the Magic Carpet in order to scour the planet to find the lost arks. They only succeed in finding two, burying them in Gigan Rocks and Crimson Crater until it was safe to relaunch the garden floating above the earth’s surface. Later on they "Incurred the wrath of the Gods because of their crimes" and Babylon Garden crashes into the Earth and is buried near Sand Ruins. They descend into the current day Babylon Rogues.
⁃ Grandma, the pacifist leader of the Knuckles Clan, dies leading her son Pachacamac to become the new chief. Though he starts out being a pacifist like his mother and daughter, he becomes hungry for power. Tikal discovers the Altar of Emerald where Chaos, a Chao whose Ancient genes had been reawakened and mutated by the Master Emerald, resides. They are the guardian of the Master Emerald and protecter of the Chao. Tikal tries to hide this discovery from her father and persuade him to return to his pacifistic views, to no avail.
⁃ The Knuckles Clan try to raid the Altar of Emerald to steal the Master Emerald for its power. They trampled anyone who got in their path, AKA, Tikal and the Chao. This leads the Chao into near extinction. Chaos is enraged and transforms into Perfect Chaos with the power of the Chaos Emeralds that were also located at the Altar, wiping out most of the Echidnas. Chaos sends Angel Island into the sky by before being sealed within the Master Emerald by Tikal, also sealing her within the Emerald as well. The few surviving Echidna on Angel Island build murals and structures all over the island. They descend into Knuckles, the last of the Echidna kind.
⁃ (2000 years ago as of Shadow 05) Black Doom places the Sky Troops/Glyphic Canyon on Earth.
Recent past (50+ years ago-Classic era)
⁃ (50+ years ago↓) Prof. Gerald Robotnik goes to study’s Angel Island and the Mystic Ruins. He particularly takes notes of their murals and architecture. Some areas in particular are Lost World, the Altar of Emerald and Hidden Palace.
⁃ The Space Colony ARK is launched. A gargantuan research facility made for researching ways to improve life on earth. The Guardian Units of Nations requested weapons of mass destruction to be made on the ARK, while the United Federation ask Gerald to discover a means to immortality, both of which Gerald finds outlandish.
⁃ Gerald’s son (Likely Ivo Robotnik’s father) discovers Emerl while on one of his archaeological expeditions. He sends it to the ARK for study.
⁃ "Project Shadow" begins to create a cure for Gerald's granddaughter, Maria, who suffers from Neuro-Immune Deficiency Syndrome.
⁃ Gerald invents the Artificial Chaos to try and create artificial life as a part of Project Shadow. They are based of murals of Chaos on Angel Island/Mystic Ruins.
⁃ Gerald creates the Biolizard, a much more successful attempt at creating life, though it is very unstable. It is based of murals of Perfect Chaos on Angel Island/Mystic Ruins.
⁃ The Biolizard's rampages cause damage to the ARK. Gerald develops the Cannon's Core to hold the Biolizard and keep it comfortable as they research.
⁃ Gerald makes contact with the Black Comet, a comet that approaches the Earth every 50 years. He communicates with Black Doom, the leader of the Black Arms. Gerald and Doom make a deal behind the government’s back, that in exchange for Black Dooms blood and DNA to help create Shadow, the seven Chaos Emeralds will be delivered to him the next time the comet passes by Earth in 50 years for his invasion. Gerald makes the deal.
⁃ The United Federation threatens to shut down the ARK due to being too dangerous. So close to creating a cure for Maria, Gerald offers them Emerl to buy time. The United Federation declines his offer, seeing the Gizoid as unimpressive.
⁃ Gerald secretly creates the Eclipse Cannon to impress the Federation as well destroy the Black Comet when it returns to Earth in 50 years.
⁃ Gerald creates Shadow with the aid of Black Doom. They finally succeeded at creating the Ultimate Life Form to create a cure for NIDS. He is based of the Hyper Sonicmural on Angel Island.

⁃ "Finding the Way" (flashback)
⁃ Emerl goes on a rampage the across the ARK after absorbing too much power. This further raises concern of the United Federation./"Shadow and Maria" (main flashback)
⁃ GUN raids the ARK, killing nearly everyone on board, including Maria. Shadow is sent to earth by Maria and Gerald is taken prisoner on Prison Island./The Jet Black Hedgehog: Shadow the Hedgehog Chapter 1 (Pg 16-30, slightly altered)
⁃ GUN forces Gerald to continue his research while captive, bringing many items from the now abandoned ARK to Prison Island.
⁃ GUN finds Shadow escape pod and brings it to Prison Island. He put into stasis in Iron Gate.
⁃ (50 years ago as of SA2↓) Gerald goes mad after finding out of Maria's death. He manages to hack into the ARK and plan its crash course to Earth in 50 years as revenge on all humanity.
⁃ Gerald erases and alters most of Shadow’s memories. He manipulates them to make Shadow think that Maria’s final wish to him was revenge.
⁃ Gerald is executed by firing squad.
• (15+ years ago) Dynamite Düx
⁃ (10 years ago as of Sonic 06↓) The Duke of Soleannastarts the Solaris Project. The project revolves around controlling the Flame of Hope, Solaris in order to save the Duke's deceased wife. Shadow and Silver go back in time just as the project starts to go south.
⁃ The tube holding Solaris explodes, killing all the researchers and fatally injuring the Duke. Iblis and Mephiles are created from Solaris. Mephiles is sealed in the Scepter of Darkness by Shadow and Iblis is sealed within Elise by the Duke. The Duke then dies. Elise becomes the ruler of Soleanna and the Kingdom Valleyand Aquatic Base is abandoned. I don’t have the mental capacity to write about all the Chaos Emerald bull-crap.
