For what I know, Sonic the hedgehog 2 is the best-selling game for Sega Game Gear, but I wanted at least a top 5 list of the most sold or something like. Could someone help, please?
I know that the Sonic Sprite was based on the 3D model used for 3D Blast, the Sonic Blast Cover, Sonic 3s title screen, etc...
...but like...
Then what the flip is Knuckles' sprites based on?
Like did they make it homemade or did they have a 3D model that they pixeled, and if so, what model did they use?
...because why the Hell not?
I know its crappy, don't snap my neck in a twist-
Hey ya'll, Tom here. Sonic Blast is a game that was either created to rival DKC or was created as a drug test for unwilling customers who own a Game Gear.
Sonic Blast was released in 1996 for the SEGA Game Gear and Master System, the latter release only being available in Brazil, probably due to the fact that the Brazil will just not let the Master System F(┛◉Д◉)┛彡┻━┻ing DIE-
The game is regarded as one of the most hated Sonic game's in the blue blurs history, but is it really that bad of a game? ...well yes but actually no. Now lets just talk about the game, shall we?
Sonic Blast is a somewhat 8-bit version of Sonic and Knuckles, since only those two characters are playable (No Tails?😾). The game looks like a really washed down version of Donkey Kong Country, with its sprites looking like a 8 bit 2.5D styled thing. I don't know why (probably due to the crap ton of brain damage I have) but I really like the sprites in this game. They just look really neat in my opinion. Also, the physics are pretty good in this game, although the spin dash is the slowest god damn mechanic I have ever seen for some reason.
The story starts off just like almost every other 8-bit Sonic title. Eggman is a giant doosh and you gotta stop him from doing the evil stuff. You have 5 chaos emeralds to collect in this game, with I believe 6 emeralds in total, due to the fact that the 8-bit Sega Consoles just have not gotten the memo that there are 7 chaos emeralds. Speaking of Emeralds, each zone seems to be named after each emerald found in the level, which should be a fun thing. Lets see what the first zone is-and GODDAMN ITS GREEN HILL-. Not much to talk about this one, basic boss, basic level design, pretty good music.
Next is Yellow Desert, which seems to have come straight from a bootleg bought by me from the man in the dumpster behind the McDonalds. Pretty basic level. Just a generic Sandopolis.
The 3rd Zone here is Red Valcano, which is a complete lie. Unless I'm colorblind (which theres a 89% chance thats true) this zone is f***ing purple. Talk about false advertising. This level is like if Hill Top and Lava Reef had a baby and then Reef dropped the baby. It has enemies from Hill Top and it has some stuff from Lava reef, like those elevators that you have to spindash on to make them go up. Honestly, I both like this zone and hate this zone.
The 4th zone is the Hell zone, in which it makes Labyrinth zone look like a carnival ride. So I actually don't hate this zone THAT much, as when I start to get into the swing of things, I actually get to beat this level pretty quickly. But the water slows you down by a lot. Although it is nice it gives you a bit longer breathing time.
The final zone is up ahead, and let me tell you I really don't like this zone. Silver Castle is a zone that has some interesting gimmicks and stuff, but those transporters are confusing as Hell. It took me like 5 minutes to even get to finish act 1. It took me more time to beat act 2, because of those damn spike walls that chase you. Although this zone is the worst zone I could play, I still dont enjoy it.
Now lets talk about the bosses real quick. The bosses are pretty original, and I'll make a short list of my opinions on them and as well rate them.
Green Hill's boss is pretty basic but cool. 6/10
Yellow Desert's boss is pretty cool, and very original. 8/10
Red Volcano's boss despite being original, is pretty hard to just hit him imo. 6.5/10
Blue Marine's boss is good. That's all I gotta say, 7/10
Silver Castle's boss is okay. 7/10
The final boss is really good, and its cool seeing this game get a final boss. 8.5/10
Now, to talk a bit about the special stages. What you gotta do is to get the chaos emeralds is to go find these not so giant rings in act 2 of each zone, in which you go into these low-quality versions of Sonic 3's special stage that also seemed to be a mix of Sonic 2's special stage? You can also find these special stages in act 1, but they only give you a 1-up.
Now, my final thoughts?
Sonic Blast is a pretty good game, not the best, but it was sure a blast to play thr-
BANG
Ah god damn it, I'm dead now.
F I N A L R A N K I N G : 6.5/10
I like the Sonic Blast Green Hill theme more then almost all of the other Green Hill zone themes, except maybe the Mania theme

Let me explain:
I know Sonic Blast doesn't have the best reputation generally, what with it being a Game gear title and having graphics that are... strange, to put it lightly, but I actually don't think it's all bad. The double jump is an interesting mechanic and it does a lot better at feeling fast than other game gear titles. I've also grown to kinda like the graphics. They give me DKC vibes. And apart from Blue Marine, which is a PAIN IN THE ****, I've actually had a lot of fun playing it in Origins Plus.
Edit: whoops, forgot about the swearing rule. Thanks Admins👍
