Shadow the Hedgehog (Paramount)

I’m fully aware that there was no redemption for him, that he was too far gone in grief, madness and revenge to not need to die, that his backstabbing of both Ivo and Shadow was cold beyond words and solidified his fate!

And he deserved his final fate, yes. No doubt about it!

But all the same, he was still very much an awesome villain! Manipulative, intelligent beyond comprehension, sadistic, powerful, not afraid of dying and Jim Carrey’s comedic portrayal of him was just astounding!

He was just one of these kinds of villains that you don’t want gone, because he’s just so cool to watch! Like, he avoids becoming a hate sink, because of various reasons.

Maybe he should have just been beaten and then arrested, once the Eclipse Gun was destroyed, then he’d still be around to be more awesome and be a recurring foe for Team Sonic!

(Not counting songs by mainstream artists that were made specifically for the franchise)

My picks would be:

• “Believer” by Imagine Dragons and “Centuries” by Fall Out Boy make me think of Sonic.

• “Pompeii” by Bastille makes me think of Silver.

• “What I’ve Done” by Linkin Park makes me think of Shadow.

• “Cool Kids” by Echosmith makes me think of Tails

• “Monster” by Skillet reminds me of Werehog Sonic

I didn’t pick any of these songs randomly, if you actually look at the lyrics of the songs, you can see that they somewhat describe either the story of the characters, how they feel, or what they went through/are going through (especially Silver, Pompeii basically describes his lore/story perfectly).

Shadow: "Sonic, I think I've discovered what the ultimate lifeform is ... It might be you!".

It's because Shadow refers to Sonic as the "ultimate lifeform" because, despite Shadow being designed and believing himself to be the ultimate lifeform, he recognizes Sonic's incredible speed, positive spirit, and ability to overcome challenges as a representation of a higher potential, even surpassing his own power in some ways; essentially acknowledging Sonic's character as being more complete than his own focused power.

I cried.

I'll be honest, I was a little worried that it would be a bit subpar, because some of the criticisms that more ruthless reviewers put out seemed to be coming true in the early parts of the movie.

GUN lady is a really bad actor who didn't need quite as much screen time, and the pacing really gives you whiplash from the get go. I think they could have put in a few more minutes near the beginning just to establish stuff, but after 45 or so minutes, you're used to the flow of the movie and it gets REALLY good.

Action scenes are immaculate. I haven't jaw dropped like that since Spiderverse, and to achieve that in live action is a FEAT. Fight scenes get a little less interesting mid-movie, with a bit of stereotypical spy action, but it's quirky and enjoyable. Then it picks up again IMMEDIATELY and OHHHHH MY GOSH IT'S AMAZING. Won't spoil it bc I know some of y'all may have not seen it yet, but you will be satisfied. They gave us what we wanted.

The jokes are for some reason a little funnier than the last two movies. Maybe Jim Carrey is just doing a great job bouncing off of... himself, but not only that, the references pay a lot more tribute to Sonic fans.

Eggman's ringtone, "talk about a low budget flight", Shadow taking off his bracelets like in '06, a SnapCube reference (not the one you wanted, but a good one nonetheless). Not to mention, Sonic references my favorite movie straight after the first Shadow fight, and that is really all I needed in life.

I kind of expected Keanu Reeves to just be Keanu Reeves, but no, he tries to actually channel Shadow a bit, which is somehow even better. He really was handled perfectly, except for one minor change to his storyline that I'm a bit confused about. His final character development genuinely brought me to tears. And Agent Stone, our favorite, is FINALLY done justice, after a depressing story arc that lasted three movies.

9.5/10 or something. It's one of my all time favorite movies.

I'm Glad Sonic & Shadow made peace & Teamed up to save the world, but they didn't have the chance to officially reconcile. However Shadow would fit right in with Tom, Maddie and the home they've made for their newest family members in Green Hills. I Hope Sonic vouches for him so come out of isolation & join Team Sonic.

After Sonic the Hedgehog 3, what would Shadow be like?

I'd like to think that he would live near or with the Wachowskis, and his dynamic with Sonic would be friendlier, compared to his videogame counterpart, albeit still a friendly rivalry (maybe something like Gimli and Legolas in LOTR?).

I think he would still help out team sonic, but not be an official member. Or he could totally be part of team sonic like rouge in prime.

Idk these are just my thoughts, I really loved movie Shadow.
