Shadow Generations was built off of Frontiers.
Frontiers was built off of Forces.
And Forces was built off of Lost World.
A video discussing Silver. The topic of the video is simple: "What was Silver doing during the events of Generations?"

We all know Sonic is a kids franchise. It’s pretty obvious at this point with Sonic, especially nowadays. Many fans will gaslight themselves into thinking it’s for older audiences, but since the beginning, Sonic was always meant to appeal to a younger audience. Then, why does Sonic now feel so… childish? Not to say there weren’t anything goofy going on in the 2000s, but Sonic as a franchise has lost its edge to its quills ever since the 2010s. Sonic was always more than a cartoon, but it doesn’t always seem like that today. Let’s take for example, SA2. Even though it was aimed at kids, it had some serious moments. It also introduced Rouge, which if you’ve ever played the Dark campaign or seen gameplay of it, I think you would know what I mean. Even when it wasn’t serious, the character had depth and acted like actual people. They weren’t like “bALDy mCNosEhaIrS!” or anything in the 2000s games. But since Sonic Colors cleaned the slate, it wasn’t like that ever since. Sonic was aimed only at a younger audience, opposed to the previous games, and had basically become what he was never just supposed to be, just a cartoon. (Well, at least Ian Flynn tried to fix that in Sonic Frontiers’s writing, but he made it too serious. Sonic Forces was being goofy and extremely edgy at the same time. I’d say that he fixed that issue in Shadow Generations, but I haven’t completed it so I can’t really say much about it.) Sonic Pre-2010s was never extremely mature or anything, but it did take itself seriously when it needed to, and that’s older audiences resonated with Sonic, because Sonic(in the most part) wasn’t just for kids, it was for everybody(Sonic and the Black Knight being a major example, along with Sonic ‘06). That is what family friendly meant, that the whole family could enjoy it while being different ages. In summary, we should never forget that this is a children’s franchise, but we shouldn’t think it’s just for them too, it’s for everyone.
