SEGA has confirmed today that Sonic X Shadow Generations sales continue to climb as the game has now shifted 1.5 million copies across platforms. The game should sell even more as it has been discounted in the Black Friday sales at a number of retailers and digital storefronts, plus there’s the new Sonic 3 is due to be released next month in cinemas.

Sonic Teams Kazuyuki Hoshino Shun Nakamura and Katsuyuki Shigihara were all present at a special Indonesian Sonic fan meet event and they revealed a few tidbits about the long-running franchise.
One of the things noted was that Shun Nakamura, who was the producer behind the recent Sonic X Shadow Generations, reiterated to the fans that he would love to remake the disastrous Sonic 06, which launched on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in November 2006. He said all older Sonic games are on the table.

SEGA’s long-awaited Sonic X Shadow Generations is now available on all platforms combining both the excellent Sonic Generations and a brand new Shadow the Hedgehog side story. Some of you may be wondering how the Sonic games plot lines and story are all put together and that has now been explained by two SEGA employees on social media platform, X. Katie (Social Media Manager) and Chris (Associate Lore Manager) explained to a fan that it is all a collaboration between SEGA Japan, Sonic writers such as Ian Flynn and the SEGA Lore Team.
It is not clear how much emphasis the Sonic Team have on writing process. You can read down below how the series story generally comes together and it’s not a simple process.

Since Sonic X Shadow Generations is almost here which is only a week away and has now been leak over a week now and Sonic 3 movie is getting close, I wanted everyone to not leak any details or plots about both those unreleased projects please. Any leak content on here be feature in the post will have their comments be reported. Not trying to be rude, I'm just telling you all here about it. I will obey those rules about DMCA takedown policy and you will all obey them as well. We all have too.

Sonic Team producer Takashi Iizuka has chatted with IGN about the recently announced PlayStation 5 Pro console and whether they will be supporting the system. Naturally the upcoming Sonic game Sonic x Shadow Generations isn’t really pushing any visual boundaries, so there’s little they could add from a power perspective over the base PlayStation 5.
One interesting thing that came out in the interview is that the Sonic Team will continue developing Sonic games on lower spec consoles such as the Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 4, both of which still have a large audience, plus with the Nintendo Switch successor reveal is coming very soon being comparable to a portable PlayStation 4 console, that’s unlikely going to change anytime soon for them.
That's not all. They will continuing to support the Nintendo Switch, which is expected to have a next-generation update very soon by Nintendo, but in the meantime continues to chug along in its seventh year. Iizuka says that Sonic will continue to pursue a middle path between high-end platforms like the PS5 and lower-end consoles like the Switch, with the series adding enhancements or making compromises where necessary.

Polygon recently caught up with Shadow the Hedgehog creator and the head of the Sonic Team and boss, Takashi Iizuka, to talk to him about all things Shadow. At the end of the interview, Iizuka was asked which areas of the character he would like to explore in the future.
He replied by saying that “maybe in the future it’ll be interesting to come back and revisit Shadow being not so nice, maybe even as far as evil.” You will be able to play a batch of new Shadow the Hedgehog themed levels in the upcoming Sonic x Shadow Generations

The official Japanese Sonic x Shadow Generations website has teased that a new character might be playable in the upcoming remaster game. The site features a look at the playable characters in Sonic X Shadow Generations, which naturally include Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, Shadow and also a mysterious undisclosed character that has yet to be revealed. Eurogamer managed to catch up with the head of Sonic Team, Takashi Iizuka, to ask him all about the company’s upcoming Sonic X Shadow Generations which is out this October. One of the main discussions were around the Shadow Generation levels and how they will contrast with Sonic’s levels. Iizuka teased that Shadow Generations level design will feature “a lot of iconic moments from Shadow’s past in the new gameplay” as the team really “wanted to tell a new story using a lot of these familiar locations to really present Shadow as a character to players that may not have gotten the full backstory of the character.”
“For the Shadow Generations level design, the team makes sure the levels are fundamentally created to be similar to the Generations-style level design with lots of high-speed action platforming that also incorporates additional features that work when Chaos Control is used,” he says. “From there, they continue to build upon the level design through iteration to add in things that can be done with the new Doom Powers as well, so you can not only run through in the traditional Generations-style gameplay, but also find new things to do with Chaos Control and the Doom Powers.”
Just don’t expect any “Classic Shadow” levels as with Sonic, although Shadow’s perspective will still shift to 2D at times. Levels will also be taken from throughout Shadow’s appearances in games, “featuring a lot of iconic moments from Shadow’s past in the new gameplay,” says Iizuka. “We wanted to tell a new story using a lot of these familiar locations to really present Shadow as a character to players that may not have gotten the full backstory of the character, as that happened over numerous different titles, and also make sure this single title could properly introduce Shadow as a character and highlight some of the important moments in Shadow’s history.”

Crazy Taxi series producer Kenji Kanno has revealed a few official details regarding the company’s long-awaited reboot of the fast-paced Dreamcast title. Kanno says that the game is being billed as a “completely new” open world Crazy Taxi title that can be played by many players at once and will feature brand new mechanics. The Crazy Taxi reboot will also feature a theme park-like map and motifs inspired by the US West Coast.
The game is being built using Unreal Engine and SEGA is currently looking to fill a number of positions including level designers, effects designers, character modelers, concept artists, and more.

Many of you were surprised when SEGA announced that Sonic Superstars would be launching the same week as the highly-anticipated Super Mario Bros Wonder. It certainly seemed a poor choice on SEGA’s part. Now SEGA has acknowledged that it made a mistake releasing in the same period as Super Mario Bros. Wonder in its English translation of a recent investor Q&A session.

SEGA is not truly happy with how its titles performed during the all-important holiday period, saying that sales were weak, poor, and sluggish. As of result of this fail procedure, the company has issued a financial warning on social media. One of the games mentioned by SEGA was Sonic Superstars, which didn’t perform to expectation, though it clearly faced the huge challenge of competing directly against the sublime Nintendo game, Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
Yesterday internal marketing presentations of SEGA’s upcoming reboots of classic games made their way online and we now have a look at those aforementioned slides.
They are for Streets of Rage, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe. While the reboots don’t have a specific release date at the moment as of yet I will keep you all informed if we hear anything back from SEGA.

SEGA garnered everyone’s attention at this year’s The Game Awards, announcing that it has a number of reboots coming for some of its most loved franchises such as Golden Axe, Shinobi, and more. During a management meeting, the company revealed a little more about what to expect from the five games, and it all sounds grand. Without further ado, here are the additional details:

One of the biggest announcements from The Game Awards this past week was SEGAs reveal of multiple IP revivals. Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Shinobi and Streets of Rage were all confirmed to be getting new games which they are not in development and SEGA even showed a little bit of gameplay for all of them for each games. However, some of the games that SEGA fans have liked and grow up to are Nights, Billy the Egg Hatcher, Burning Rangers and of course Space Channel 5 has not been shown or mention in the small trailer. Its possible that they are going to tease new games for those series at a later date.
However, you may be curious to know if this initiative, which is called “Power Surge”, is limited to just those 5 games. Well, according to SEGA co-chief operating officer & SEGA of America CEO Shuji Utsumi in a press release for the initative’s reveal that “we are digging into our legacy and reimagining several franchises to bring these games to more audiences around the globe.
